Meghan McCain Leaving ‘The View’ for the Rest of the Week and Fans React

Meghan McCain is always controversial on The View. Her conservative values usually clash with the rest of the co-hosts which can make the tensions rise. In the past weeks, the Republican pundit has missed days which have caused people to speculate about her absence on social media. On Tuesday’s episode, McCain made an announcement she was leaving the show for the remainder of the week.

“I’m not going to be here this week, I’m so sorry,” she said, interrupting Abby Huntsman. “This is my last show just for this week. I’m going to miss your birthday, I’m sorry. I have not been fired or abducted by aliens I’m going to the Magnitsky Awards in honor of Sergei Magnitsky. Thank you to ABC for giving me permission to do it.”

The timing was off for her to make the announcement but McCain has been known to not care about timing when she has something to say.

Fans react to a Meghan McCain-free show

Fans of The View that are not particularly fans of McCain took to Twitter to react to the news. It’s safe to say that many viewers would not miss the conservative for the episodes that were to follow.

“Just watched [the] record show from today,” a viewer tweeted. Delighted to hear Meghan McCain will be away [the] rest of the week. Her disrespectful and shrill responses, especially to Joy, will not be missed. Entitled much, Meghan?”

“The best news of the day, Meghan McCain is not going to be on The View for the rest of the week. Take a little time and enjoy the view,” a fan wrote.

“It’s going to be a great week [at] The View without Meghan McCain. It’s so obvious you hate your job. I’m sure you could find a better fit somewhere else. How about being a housewife somewhere?” another fan commented.

“It’s good Meghan McCain is off this week so others can finish their sentences,” another viewer stated.

“Wait, did I just hear Meghan McCain will be gone for the rest of the week?” a fan asked on Twitter. “Thank you, Jesus. A good cause for a happy dance today. Anyone else scratching their head about the poor timing of her announcement? Totally off-topic. I wish she announced she was leaving.”

Meghan McCain takes on the conspiracy theories

A day before, McCain took on reports that she was being fired from The View due to her repeated absences.

“Whenever one of us is sick on this show, it is tin foil hat conspiracy land on social media,” she said. “Sometimes we just get sick. We’re not fired, we’re not abducted by aliens… nothing has happened. We’re just sick, that’s it.

McCain made it clear that sometimes when she’s absent, she really does feel ill and doesn’t like the rumors around her.

“So give us a break. That is why we show at work because people act like we have been fired or abducted by aliens and it’s not right,” she added.

Meghan McCain loves Joy Behar

Although McCain and Joy Behar often spar on live television, there really is a friendship behind-the-scenes.

“It really hurts my feelings!” McCain said on Entertainment Tonight of reports there is bad blood between her and Behar. “It genuinely hurts my feelings because our dressing rooms are next door to each other and you and I have the same emotional reaction to things — sometimes in different ways — but we’re both upset equally, the equal amount of the same things. And I wish people would give us a break, for real.”

McCain respects Behar so much that when she’s not on the talk show, she genuinely misses arguing with her.

“I don’t know what my takeaway is but when you’re not here, I hate the show,” McCain revealed. “I really have a hard time. As everyone knows, I have a really hard time when I can’t fight with you, I really enjoy it. I really enjoy being friends with you. You’re really funny, you always make me laugh on the show. I’m really, sincerely very grateful that you’re on the show with me and you have all the answers. I do, I love Joy … because neither of us put up with sh**, none of us care about being loved and both of us don’t want our husbands on the show every day. We don’t drag our husbands out like props, neither of us do that.”
