Meghan McCain Skips ‘The View’ Again, When Will She Be Back?

Meghan McCain from The View had the best news over the weekend. The conservative co-host announced she was pregnant and expecting a baby with her husband Ben Domenech. Out of an abundance of caution, McCain said that she would not be going to the talk show’s set due to the coronavirus pandemic. She said she would be hosting from her home but she hasn’t appeared at all this week.

On Monday, the co-hosts congratulated McCain on the baby news but didn’t mention when she would return. It was on Tuesday that Whoopi Goldberg said the Republican pundit would comeback “sometime this week” without confirming an exact date.

For now, fans will have to do without the perspective of the conservative co-host. Goldberg has been moderating from home, while Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines hold down the fort in the studio. Joy Behar returned on Monday but was missing again on Tuesday’s episode.

Meghan McCain’s baby announcement

McCain confirmed she was pregnant on social media over the weekend, surprising all of her followers but brightening up the day in the middle of the coronavirus coverage.

“My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I’m pregnant,” McCain announced. “Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all.”

The TV personality said that her doctor advised her to stay home during the pandemic.

“I consulted with my doctors and they advised me that for the safety of our baby and myself, I should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with,” she added. “Starting immediately, I’ll be joining the millions of Americans who are self-isolating as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, I will be appearing on The View from home via satellite.”

McCain thanked ABC for making it possible to work from home while she is pregnant.

“I’m fortunate that my employer, ABC, has allowed me and my co-hosts to work remotely,” McCain continued. “I am indebted to our producers and crew. I also want to acknowledge the heroes — the doctors, nurses, grocery and pharmacy workers, journalists, police officers, firemen, and military — who are on the front lines of this fight. Please stay safe. Wash your hands and avoid public gatherings and I will continue to see you each morning on The View.”

Joy Behar returned after a week off

Following the coronavirus outbreak in New York City, Behar self-isolated as she is in the high-risk group due to her age. Following a whole week off, the comedian appeared via video call on Monday’s show.

“Here’s the thing. This type of restfulness is exhausting for me,” she said. “I’m more lethargic than normal. I have not been able to maintain six feet distance from my refrigerator, I can emerge from this debacle morbidly obese, it’s possible.”

Behar made light of her situation with the humor that fans love about her.

“My activities included giving a bubble bath to Bernie, my dog, and eggplant — you’re supposed to bubble bath your vegetables too,” she continued. “There was a Zoom session last night with people that I normally have great conversations with. I had a glass a wine and I totally fell asleep. I mean, I can’t even get myself aroused to get out of the house and clean up, which I have been forcing myself to do.”

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT/PT.
