Alec Baldwin who has been spoofing President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live since 2016 decided to give Melania Trump an open invitation to join him on the show after she created a major firestorm last week. And now, the first lady’s spokeswoman has responded to the actor.

On Thursday, June 22, Mrs. Trump visited migrant children in McAllen, Texas, but what she wore ended up becoming the focus of the headlines. Becuase the words “I really don’t care, Do U?” were printed on the back of her jacket, many started to speculate what message she was trying to send and to who.

Her spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, was quick to assure everyone that there wasn’t any type of hidden meaning behind the coat Melania chose to wear. “It’s a jacket. There was no hidden message,” Grisham said, adding, “After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.”

However, despite Grisham’s remarks about it meaning nothing, President Trump wanted people to know that the words on the back of the FLOTUS’ jacket did mean something. According to him, the words on his wife’s coat “refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!”

Following the news coverage of what the print on her attire may or may not have been about, Baldwin tweeted an offer to the first lady. “Dear Melania — We know what you’re thinking. What you’re feeling,” he wrote. “You are quaking w anticipation. Shuddering w a strange, newfound courage. Come. Come over to the light. We will welcome you as a hero in ways you never imagined possible. And then do SNL w me. Sincerely, Alec.”

He followed that up with a photo of them at an event together with the caption, “We have a chair waiting for you in the @nbcsnl make-up room.”

At the moment SNL is on summer hiatus and of course, no one excepts Melania to ever go on the show but we are in an age in which this administration responds to what Hollywood heavyweights say. Therefore, Grisham responded to Baldwin after learning what he posted on Twitter.

“He mentioned her again?,” Grisham wrote in an email to Elite Daily. “I used to say he was using her name for publicity, but now I’m starting to think Mr. Baldwin may have a crush on Mrs. Trump that is becoming borderline obsessive.”

Baldwin has said in the past that he was told Melania actually likes his impressions of her husband. “Someone told me — who’s friends with someone in the White House, or formerly in the White House — that Melania Trump loves SNL, and she loves my impersonation,” he during an interview with WNYC’s The Brian Lehrer Show,

We’re not sure if that’s accurate but we do know that the president is not a fan of Baldwin’s portrayal of him as he has expressed his disdain for the act and the show as a whole plenty of times.
