Michael J. Fox and 14 Other Celebrities Who Have Never Been Divorced
These days, it’s challenging for anyone to stay married. Issues like infidelity, financial woes, and everything in between can cause couples who once couldn’t see their lives without one another to go their separate ways. In fact, as the 21st century continues, divorce statistics are rising. At present about half of all marriages in the United States end in divorce which is painful and devastating for anyone who is involved.
Unfortunately, these statistics seem to be even higher in Hollywood. With mega-fame, money, and success, it’s very difficult for celebrities to stay grounded and to keep their marriages on track. However, not all celeb marriages have ended in the middle of a courtroom. In fact, some celebs have never been divorced at all. Michael J. Fox has the best advice about knowing if you’re marrying the right person (page 11).
1. Jon Bon Jovi
- Married since 1989
Jon Bon Jovi’s life took a meteoric rise in the 1980’s when his band Bon Jovi skyrocketed to fame. However, that didn’t stop the rocker from marrying his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley. On April 29, 1989, during a stop on his New Jersey Syndicate Tour, Bon Jovi, secretly took a trip to Las Vegas where he and Hurley tied the knot at the Graceland Wedding Chapel.
The couple has four children together and they have been married ever since. In 2006, Bon Jovi told The Huffington Post that he isn’t sure how he became the poster boy for a good marriage.

7. Martin Sheen

It’s very difficult to be a Hollywood star with a long-term career, and it’s even harder to raise children who are also equally successful in the entertainment industry. However, Martin Sheen made it look easy. The Apocolypse Now actor has been married to his wife Janet since 1961, and the couple has four children, Emilio Estevez, Ramón Estevez, Charlie Sheen, and Renée Estevez. Sheen spoke to The Guardian about his long marriage and why it has withstood the test of time.

It’s taken me a long time to be as even and direct with her as she has been, always, with me. And that’s the relationship. I honestly don’t have a clue who she is because when I get to the point where I’ve caught up with her, she’s gone.”

They’ve certainly had hard times, especially after Fox was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease in 1992.
Oprah Winfrey once interviewed the couple about their thoughts on marriage. The Teen Wolf actor said, “When Chris Rock did a benefit for our foundation, he talked about the marriage vows. He said, “What do they mean when they say, “For richer?” Of course, a woman will stay with you if you’re rich! The vows should ask, ‘Will you stay with me if I’m sick and broke?’ If the woman says yes, then you’re in.”

I don’t know what statistics are, or I don’t know if people in show business have a higher rate of divorce, but I just think that you have to work at it. Not give up on each other. It’s a commitment. It’s not all the honeymoon, it doesn’t last forever, so you work at it. And hopefully you’re good friends first, that might help!”
