Can you even imagine Bachelor Nation without Mike Johnson?
America was first introduced to Johnson on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. Fans fell in love with his big, contagious smile and were absolutely heartbroken when Brown sent him home.
“You’ve been such a leader here. I told you in the rose ceremony the first day I was so freaking nervous and all I could see–you were just smiling and you got me through it. I know one of the first conversations we had was like how you don’t want to get your heart broken and I know how bad that hurts. You’ve talked about your three ladies in your life. They’re so amazing and you’re looking for your fourth lady, and I know that I’m not that fourth lady,” Brown told Johnson in their breakup.
Johnson took it like a champ. He was sweet and even encouraging to Brown, letting her know that they’d both be OK.
“I know it’s hard to say. But it’s what you needed to say, how you feel. I can’t say that I’m happy. I don’t know what to say except thank you for being honest,” he replied.
Mike Johnson says his season of ‘The Bachelor’ would have been more entertaining that Peter Weber’s
As soon as Johnson was sent home from The Bachelorette, fans started showing their interest in him becoming the next bachelor. Of course, we all know now the gig went to Peter Weber, but Johnson says he still thinks his season would have been more entertaining.
“I think Peter is a good looking dude with his 5 o’clock shadow,” he said on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast. “He has a fun, super fun job. His family’s amazing. His little brother, I know personally — he’s a dope kid. … I think I would have been more entertaining. I said it, and I’m gonna stick by my word.”
Johnson had another shot at Bachelor love on the most recent season of Bachelor In Paradise. Unfortunately, he didn’t really hit it off with anyone. But shortly after the season ended, the reality star was linked to singer, songwriter, actress Demi Lovato. They, too, didn’t work out, but Johnson doesn’t seem to be too discouraged (he asked out actress Keke Palmer shortly after).
Mike Johnson was this close to turning down ‘The Bachelorette’
On a recent segment of “Instagram Clapbacks” by Us Weekly, Johnson was accused of being a fame chaser.
“I actually wasn’t going to go on the show. I actually turned it down at first. I wasn’t going to do it,” replied Johnson. “You don’t know me. You really don’t know me homie.”
He said that, in the midst of Bachelorette casting, he even told a friend of his that he had decided to not go on the show.
It’s safe to say that we’re all glad he ended up going. Bachelor Nation is better for it.
