Season 15 of The Bachelorette is officially winding down. The two night, 4-hour season finale starts in just a few hours, and Bachelor Nation is chomping at the bit to see who will win Hannah Brown’s heart. But there’s also another, equally important question that fans want answers to. Who will be the next Bachelor? There’s a very short list of possible contenders for the 24th season of The Bachelor, but one fan favorite who’s made the cut is Mike Johnson. But does Johnson even want the part? Though he’s flattered by the attention, he recently admitted that he does have some hesitation about accepting a potential offer.
A true fan favorite
The 31-year-old Texas native immediately captivated Bachelor Nation on the latest season of The Bachelorette. With his sweet smile, amazing levelheadedness, charming personality, and tall stature, he was every bit of a southern gentleman. Johnson also got Brown’s attention quickly and though she ultimately sent him home, she acknowledged that she wants nothing but the very best for him. In fact, Brown confessed that she hoped that Johnson would be ABC’s pick for the upcoming season of The Bachelor. His fellow castmates have echoed that sentiment also, but Johnson remains as humble as ever about the possibility.
“It’s really cool the guys would like to see me as the next Bachelor. I know that Hannah said I was the leader in the house, which was not something I was trying to do. That was just me throughout. It’s awesome people feel that or say that, whether it’s Bachelor Nation or my castmates. I’m grateful they say that,” the 31-year-old said earnestly in a recent interview with Glamour.
Mike Johnson for Bachelor
And Bachelor Nation definitely does seem supportive of Johnson as the bachelor. With the exception of Tyler Cameron, there doesn’t seem to be anyone on this season who is more loved and less problematic than Johnson. But despite support, Johnson still has a bit of hesitation about accepting the role should it be offered to him. The portfolio manager stated that he doesn’t want to be the bachelor merely to fill some kind of quota. “The hesitation is because I don’t do it for…to be the first veteran Bachelor,” Johnson told Glamour, citing his time previously served in the airforce.
All the right reasons
But despite that hesitation, Johnson feels that there are a lot of reasons why he would accept the role should it be offered to him. Having gotten down to the final six in Brown’s season, Johnson recognizes that love on the show is possible. However, he wants to make sure that everyone involved comes on the show for the right reasons. “I would do it because I feel the 30 potential suitors are there for the right reasons. I know that in Bachelor and Bachelorette, love can happen in this process. I just want to make sure the 30 suitors are there for the right reasons as well,” the Texas native declared.
Who will be the next bachelor
Only time will tell if Johnson is offered the role of the bachelor. History has shown us that other possible contenders for the role will be Tyler Cameron and Peter Weber, provided Brown doesn’t pick them. That said, it’s entirely possible that the producers of The Bachelor will completely throw a wrench in our expectations. After all, we all had to suffer through Arie Luyendyk’s tragic season.
