Miley Cyrus Gives ‘Passionate’ Performance at iHeartRadio Music Festival After Kaitlynn Carter Breakup

Hours after news of Miley Cyrus’s breakup with Kaitlynn Carter, Cyrus took the iHeartRadio Music Festival stage. Here’s why her emotions may have played a role in giving the performance of a lifetime.

The breakup didn’t go public until Saturday night. Already, Cyrus is moving “on with the show.” It’s unclear how long the two had been broken up before the news surfaced or why the breakup happened.

The former couple was spotted last week looking happy as ever. A source told People “Miley and Kaitlyn broke up,” but added, “They’re still friends.”

The source added, “They’ve been friends forever and were there for each other when they were both getting separated, but they’re just not in a romantic relationship anymore.”

If Cyrus and Carter get along, their breakup may be comparable to their relationship. Sources told E! News, there was no drama, and so far, that looks to be true.

After two months together, and many more years of friendship, the singer and the Hills: New Beginnings star may have jumped into the relationship a little too soon, too fast.

Their respective marriages ended shortly before Cyrus and Carter were caught kissing by paparazzi while on vacation. Neither Cyrus or Carter have commented on the relationship or breakup. Cyrus’s iHeartRadio performance is where the emotions released.

What songs did Miley Cyrus perform at the iHeartRadio Music Festival?

Cyrus stepped on stage for her scheduled set, wearing a leather rock ensemble to sing some of her biggest hits, and a couple of new ones.

Cyrus sang “Slide Away” and “Wrecking Ball.” Both songs are speculated to be about Liam Hemsworth. She also performed another of her hits, “We Can’t Stop,” then took fans back in time to classics like Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog”, which she performed previously, and Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” which was a first.

Cyrus also debuted an abridged version of her Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey collaboration of “Don’t Call Me Angel.”

“My favorite faces to see in the crowd are confused dads,” Cyrus said from the stage. When Cyrus wasn’t performing, she and her mom, Tish, older sister, Brandi, and brother, Trace, watched as fans when ’80s band, Def Leppard, took the stage.

What’s next for Miley Cyrus post-split?

That aside, a source told People Cyrus may not want a serious relationship right now. “She and Kaitlynn spent every day together and it just wanted anything that Miley wanted to continue doing,” the source added. “She wants to focus on her career.”

Whether Cyrus and Carter work things out or not, they’re still supportive of one another. Carter just posted to Cyrus’s Instagram photo saying, “GET IT!!!!” If that’s not top-notch post-break-up love, what is?
