Miley Cyrus Reveals What She Couldn’t Accept About Her Divorce With Liam Hemsworth
Fans were shocked by Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s short marriage. There was a lot of gossip about the cause of it given she was seen dating multiple people as they were divorcing. The former Disney star talked about the one thing she couldn’t accept about that time.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth got divorced
Cyrus and Hemsworth were off-and-on again for years. They got married in 2018 and Hemsworth filed for divorce in 2019.
Hemsworth posted a statement on Instagram. “Hi all just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love,” read the caption.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy,” Cryus’ rep claimed in a statement.
There were many rumors around their split. One of them was that Cyrus cheated.
Cyrus denied the cheating rumors
It didn’t take long for there to be rumors that Cyrus cheated. This is probably because she was seen kissing Kaitlynn Carter.
“I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time. What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide,” she tweeted.
“I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will,” she later tweeted in the same thread.
She couldn’t accept the villainizing
Cyrus opened up about her public divorce on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. She explained what tough that was for her.
“I recently just went through a very public divorce that f*cking sucked,” the singer said. “What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore. That’s OK, I can accept that. I can’t accept the villainizing, and just all those stories.”
“It’s just amazing to me that the public kind of thinks that there is no gap of time that they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this,” she said. Cyrus then talked about the public’s reaction to her kissing Carter. “There was a lot of time in between that you didn’t see,” she later added.
It looks like the public backlash she received for the breakup hurt the star. She was quick to deny the rumors at the time and is still talking about the public’s perception of the divorce.
