Miley Cyrus Shades Liam Hemsworth During Live Session With New Boyfriend

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s marriage didn’t make it very far before it fell apart. The celebrity couple lasted about eight months before confirming their split recently, and it seems the wounds are still quite raw.

Cyrus seems to have found love again in the form of Australian singer Cody Simpson. The two recently took to Instagram live to chat with fans, and it seemed as if Cyrus was throwing shade at Hemsworth during the event. Meanwhile, some fans aren’t as in love with Simpson as Cyrus claims to be. Here’s what went down.

A representative for Miley Cyrus chatted provided a statement about the celebrity split to People once things went official.

According to the rep, “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Miley Cyrus has previously discussed how she doesn’t feel as if she fits into the stereotypical gender-role of a wife. “People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still f–ing good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word,” she told Elle.

When asked about the split in Australia, Hemsworth said, “You don’t understand what it’s like, I don’t want to talk about it.”

Since the split, things have continued to be rocky between the two celebrities. Miley Cyrus seems to have moved on romantically, finding partnership with Australian singer Cody Simpson. However, it did seem as if Cyrus was recently throwing shade at Liam Hemsworth during an Instagram Live session.

During the live session with Cody Simpson, which took place in late October, Cyrus discussed her previous feelings that she’d never find luck with men.

Miley Cyrus told Cody Simpson, “You don’t have to be gay, there are good people with d**ks out there…you’ve just got to find them. You’ve got to find a d**k that’s not a d**k, you know. I always thought I had to be gay, because I thought all guys were evil, but it’s not true.”

Cyrus also said, “There are good people out there that just happen to have d**ks. I’ve only ever met one, and he’s on this live.”

To some, it seemed as if Miley Cyrus was specifically saying that Liam Hemsworth doesn’t fall into that category — that he is in fact, not a good person.

However, not everyone agrees with Cyrus. In fact, some Instagram users have recently been calling Simpson a hypocrite, while others are criticizing Miley Cyrus for dating again so soon.

Some Instagram users don’t love Cyrus’ new boyfriend

When it comes to dating again, some fans have been claiming that Cyrus moved on too fast. Cyrus took to Twitter to address those claims, writing, “This ‘dating’ thing is new to me too. I’ve never been an ‘adult’ / grown ass woman experiencing this.”

She added, “I was in a committed relationship for almost all my teens and early 20s; with the exception of a few breaks, which usually In those times I was working my ass off with not much R&R…. and ‘meeting / trusting’ people in my position is really tuff. … I am trying to make light and like always MAKE FUN of myself / and the public’s perception of me ! Get used to me dating – this is where I am at [sic]!”

Meanwhile, other fans have been criticizing Cody Simpson for his Instagram posts. Simpson posted a dramatic video on Instagram about saving the Earth, captioning it, “Australia is on fire. Venice is sinking. The system is flawed. Greed has poisoned the minds of world leaders. We live inside our computer screens and automobiles, disconnected from the earth. ‘Development’ & ‘progress’ — two of my least favourite words. More than machinery, more than economy, we need humanity. What we need is trees replanted. What we need is clean energy. What we need is sustainable industry. What are you doing today to help save our one home—the earth?”

Instagram users were quick to spot and point out hypocrisy. One user wrote, “People need to stop flying less for starters – especially first class and private. It’s the hugest fossil fuel suck and individual can do. You are suuuuch a hypocrite.”

Another added, “Really, interesting what are you actually doing today to save the world, a few more selfies maybe!!! Very contradictory.”
