‘Million Dollar Listing:’ What Is Fredrik Eklund’s Net Worth and Does He Have a Favorite Twin?
Fredrik Eklund from Million Dollar Listing: New York is living the dream right now. He’s a top New York City broker, married to the love of his life and his the father to twins, Mila and Freddy. Life is looking far better than it was only a few short years ago.
He and husband Derek struggled to have a family, desperately trying to find a surrogate. Then the couple suffered a huge loss when the surrogate had a miscarriage. Which, unfortunately, was followed by yet another. Life looked bleak, however, the couple’s luck turned. And eventually, they became parents to healthy twins. Freddy is Derek’s biological child and Mila is Fredrik’s. The twins are about to become toddlers, which means Fredrik and Derek’s sweet babies are going to be on the move.
Thankfully the couple can afford to hire help, thanks to Fredrick’s sizable net worth. And while he’s the doting dad to both children, Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen pressed Fredrick to reveal if he has a favorite twin.
His career has exploded

And just like that – we’re now open for business in LA. This week we listed over $200,000,000 of LA properties and had our first two closings – with a lot more coming. A life long dream to be bicoastal and represent the absolutely best real estate coast to coast and give our clients exposure locally, nationally and internationally. But even more importantly, to be able to work with people I love and can truly call family ❤️
Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, Fredrik launched his real estate career in 2003 and quickly built a reputation as being the broker who gets it done. He became known as Manhattan’s “Broker to the Stars,” because of his “A-list” clientele. Some star clients include Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Gigi Hadid, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, Daniel Craig, Alec Baldwin, and Jennifer Lopez.
He is currently part of the real estate agency, Douglas Elliman. And the founder of the agency’s top sales team. He is a sales record breaker and was named a top broker by a number of New York City-based publications. He closed out 2017 with nearly $1 billion in sales in a single year.
Fredrick is an original Million Dollar Listing: New York cast member. Plus he co-starred in breakout show, Fredrik and Bethenny, which also featured Bethenny Frankel from The Real Housewives of New York City. He has currently closed more than $5 billion in sales. And active listings exceed $2 billion. As a result of his tremendous success, his net worth stands at $30 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
And his personal life is a dream come true too
He married artist, Derek Kaplan in 2013. And even though Fredrik could not have been more in love with Derek, he continued to have his head buried in work 24/7, which put a strain on the couple’s relationship. But marriage seemed to soften the tough businessman as Fredrik began to evolve. Making more friendships on Million Dollar Listing: New York. Plus, pursuing the dream of having a family.
After tremendous heartbreak trying to start a family, Fredrik and Derek welcomed Mila and Freddy on November 28, 2017. “So peaceful… wrapped next to one another they often fall sleep nose against nose. I sit for hours but somehow it feels like minutes and I just listen to their little noises,” Fredrik wrote in an Instagram post after they arrived.
Who is his favorite? Mila or Freddy?

This was the best year of my life – and the most challenging. The beautiful twins brought so much love, fun and chaos all at once. My biggest challenge to overcome was the guilt I felt for not being able to split myself and be with them at all times. To balance the now two demanding jobs: my career and them. Perhaps I wasn't prepared, perhaps I was bad at sharing some of the difficulties – or perhaps I got exactly all the things I always wanted. I do have a newfound respect for my own parents, actually all parents out there. Now, I look back at the year and can smile at myself worrying and always trying to make everything perfect for the kids. As I look at M and F dressed up for tonight and think of the long difficult journey here, there is just no way I can be more grateful for all of it, including the challenges. This is fatherhood. 2018 was also real difficult – but wonderful – for my business. I think most people can agree that New York City experienced one if its most challenging markets in a decade. Yet the team closed on nearly 300 homes, more than any year before, increased our average sales price and way surpassed last year’s closed commission. It was an uphill battle in the marketplace but this is when we decided to accelerate against a lot of odds. During the year we tripled the team size. And opened our own 10,000 sqft retail office on Broadway designed by Paris Forino and featured in Architectural Digest, as well as expanded to California. We won bigger and more iconic projects and had the #1 and #2 best-selling buildings in Manhattan in number of closings (Steiner and One West End) and the biggest new condo filing in dollars (The XI) in 2018. Thanks to Elliman, it’s management, John, Julia, Scott, Suzie and the entire team (I can only tag 20 people I love in the photo ) we are positioned so well for the future whatever it may bring. – It’s almost midnight and New Years Eve here in the Maldives and the twins are wearing party hats and daddies drinking frozen margaritas. Wishing you all the best New Years and an amazing 2019 full of love and success. /Fredrik
Now that the twins are here, Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen messed with Fredrik during an appearance. He goaded him into trying to name his favorite twin.
“You’re not supposed to have favorites. It’s twins,” Fredrik said, E News reports. “No, I’ve been thinking a lot about this because…Milla is my biological daughter and Freddy is biologically Derek’s. So, it’s very important not to gravitate towards Milla….So, no favorite.” Cohen, not buying it said, “So, Milla’s your favorite.”
