After her completely unexpected exit from the show, many have wondered why Barton has kept such a low profile ever since then?

Now that Mischa Barton will be appearing on MTV’s The Hills: New Beginnings, she’s ready to share her story and show the public a side of her that’s never been seen before.

Mischa knows that fans have been questioning who she is for years

As someone who doesn’t have a background in reality television, it was a shock to many of us when it was revealed Mischa Barton was joining The Hills: New Beginnings.

Since Barton was starring on The O.C. at the same time The Hills was airing on MTV, she went through the same circles as the cast and also had to deal with fame all while trying to navigate through her young adult life.

After her run on the hit teen drama series, the actress decided to remain out of the spotlight and since doing so, there has been a ton of curiosity surrounding her.

Mischa Barton has known that fans what to get to know her outside of acting and joining the cast of The Hills: New Beginnings was the perfect way to show a completely different side of her.

“I think there’s always been a lot of mystery around me, and people always have a lot of questions about who I really am and what I’m really like,” Barton told Page Six in a recent interview. “I’m not sure that this show will clear up any of that, but what I do think about that is that I am a voice of reason and I am a pretty chill person.”

Mischa Barton has also revealed that her being close friends with most of The Hills cast for so many years was one of the main reasons she agreed to do the show.

“It was a wild decision process, to be honest, it came to me over the summer and I didn’t take it seriously. It kind of came to me from every different angle. I saw them [The Hills cast] all together on the red carpet of The VMAs and it looked like that was very real,” Barton explained to E! News.

She continued, “I was hesitant, I was slow to come to that realization but this was a family that was easy to join since I’ve known them all for years.”

The series will showcase Barton’s return to acting

Since Mischa Barton is expected to bring “a fresh, new perspective” to The Hills reboot, fans will finally get a chance to see how the actress’s career has been panning out these past few years.

Though she has continued to act every now and again, Barton is looking to get back into the spotlight she was once part of.

“You’ll see on the show, I’m going on auditions,” she shared with Entertainment Tonight. “And I’m getting back out there and I’ve been doing that, developing stuff, I’m just not sure what it will be yet. But yeah, I’m definitely game for that.”

This new series will be a “new beginning” in Mischa Barton’s life as she is ready to show that she has overcome a lot in her past and has finally come out on top.

“I do feel I’ve been through a lot, especially in the last few years,” Barton said, reflecting on the last decade. “It’s definitely starting a new chapter in my life.”

The Hills: New Beginnings aired June 24 at 10/9 EST on MTV.
