Mossimo Giannulli: Who Is ‘Fuller House’ and ‘When Calls The Heart’ Star Lori Loughlin’s Husband?

Dozens of people, including actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman, have been charged in a college admissions bribery scam designed to guarantee that the children of wealthy parents earned spots at elite colleges such as Yale and Stanford.

Federal prosecutors in Boston announced the charges on Tuesday, saying that 33 parents from across the U.S. had been indicted in the scam, along with NCAA athletic coaches, college exam administrators, and William “Rick” Singer, the head Edge College & Career Network, who ran the $25 million scheme.

Also indicted was Mossimo Giannulli, the husband of When Calls the Heart and Fuller House star Lori Loughlin. Both Loughlin and Giannulli were charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud.

“There will not be a separate admissions system for the wealthy. And there will not be a separate criminal justice system either,” said U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling about the scheme which involved cheating on the SAT and ACT as well as fabricating athletic profiles for students.

While his name might not be quite as familiar as his wife’s, if you’re a Target shopper, you know Mossimo Giannulli. He’s the 55-year-old behind the big box store’s popular Mossimo brand.

Giannulli founded the label in 1986 in Orange County, and it quickly became popular with Southern California surfers. In 2000, the company signed a licensing deal with Target that earned Giannulli $8.5 million in royalties in the first year along, according to a report in The Hundreds. In 2006, the company was sold to Iconix Brand Group for $135 million.

He’s been married to Lori Loughlin since 1997

Loughlin and Giannulli eloped on Thanksgiving Day in 1997. It was the second marriage for Loughlin, who was previously with Michael R. Burns, an entertainment industry executive, as well as for Gianulli. The couple’s ceremony took place at sunrise in Newport Beach.

“Moss and I had both been married before, so we thought, ‘Well, it didn’t really work out well for us the first time around, so maybe we’ll elope and see how it goes and tell people,'” Loughlin told Entertainment Tonight in 2018. “We had talked about doing a wedding and we just thought, ‘Let’s get up and let’s go do it.'”

Both women attend the University of Southern California, the same school their father attended. According to the indictment, their parents “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew – thereby facilitating their admission to USC.”

In an email about his older daughter that is quoted in the indictment, Giannulli wrote that he worried about “getting her into a school other than ASU!” Once their older child was admitted to USC, the couple agreed to pay more money so that their youngest child would also get into the school.
