Most People Think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will Choose This Name for Their Baby Boy

Finally, royal family fans can rest easy knowing the gender of Baby Sussex. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their son early in the morning on May 6, 2019. Judging from Prince Harry’s enthusiasm while delivering an official statement to the press, everyone is over-the-moon excited about the baby boy’s arrival.

But even though the gender and birth date have been revealed, people are eagerly anticipating the next announcement: the name. Fans are in full-scale speculation mode trying to determine what name the couple will bestow upon their firstborn child and when they’ll share that information with the public.

Even though they’re not scared to break rules, it’s unlikely that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will choose a radically unique name for their offspring. Bettors are placing money on several traditional names, including these specific top contenders.

Odds are good for a traditional family name

Meghan Markle didn’t grow up as a member of the royal family and may not be fully familiar with their naming conventions. However, Prince Harry is extremely well-versed in tradition and what’s expected of him. Even if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex occasionally bend the rules, they’ve likely gotten any name selections approved by Queen Elizabeth and will choose a properly regal moniker.

Prince Harry admitted that they’re still thinking about names for their little one and haven’t made a concrete decision yet—at least not one they’re willing to share. “Still thinking about names. The baby’s a little bit overdue so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it, but yeah — that’s the next bit,” Prince Harry told reporters while announcing the birth.

It’s likely to be one of these specific names

Going by odds, the British-based gambling company Ladbrokes updated their list of most likely names for the royal baby. They are as follows: Albert, Arthur, Alexander, James, Philip, Louis, Henry, Frederick, Thomas, Edward. Like other royal babies, the little one will probably have several middle names as well.

However, there is a twist to the whole thing. Since Baby Sussex is pretty far down the line of succession, there’s a chance that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will choose a name that’s slightly less traditional and that the Queen would approve the selection.

When will we find out Baby Sussex’s name?

Though the Duke and Duchess and Sussex are taking their time announcing the baby’s name, they’ve probably narrowed down the results and will announce the name on Wednesday, May 8. That’s also the expected date when we can anticipate photos of the newborn baby, who was apparently a week overdue. For now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are enjoying their time spent together as a new family just like they said they would.

It won’t be long before we know all the details about the newest member of the royal family, including his name!
