Movies and TV Shows to Watch If You’re Over ‘Avengers: Endgame’

For those who are over the record-breaking blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, check out our list of movies and TV shows that have absolutely nothing to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Full disclosure: Robert Downey Jr. makes an appearance on our list which also includes a TV show about superheroes.

On the other end of the spectrum, there’s our list of movies and TV shows for people who are still loving Avengers: Endgame and can’t get enough of the MCU.

TV show: ‘Downton Abbey’

Leave the superhero world behind in PBS’s Downton Abbey. A period drama about the lives of servants working at the sprawling Edwardian mansion, Downton Abbey, and the family they work for, the show is at times funny (British dry humor rears its head from time to time) and heartbreaking.

The wildly popular series ran for six seasons and is now getting its own movie. A Downton Abbey movie will hit theaters on Sept. 20, 2019. Watch the movie trailer.

If you’re still on the fence about watching the show, know this: Downton Abbey has five stars and 42,364 reviews on Amazon Prime Video. Harry Potter fans will want to see Professor McGonagall or Maggy Smith’s outstanding performance as Violet, the Dowager Countess of Grantham.

Seasons 1 – 6 are available to stream on Amazon Prime.

TV show: ‘Veronica Mars’ Season 4

Veronica Mars returned to the small screen after getting canceled in 2007 after three seasons.

One movie later, everyone’s favorite private investigator, Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) returned when Season 4 of the series premiered on Hulu in July.

We like to think of Veronica Mars as a more realistic version of a superhero, fighting bad guys and righting wrongs one case at a time.

Watch Veronica Mars Seasons 1 – 4 and the Veronica Mars movie on Hulu.

TV show: ‘The Boys’

Here us out on this one. Yes, The Boys is a show about superheroes but not in the way one might expect.

The Boys follows a group of vigilantes referred to as “the boys,” who try to keep corrupt superheroes in check. The Amazon Original series is the most popular superhero program on TV and is the highest-rated show on IMDb.

Movie: ‘Mary Poppins Returns’

Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns has a fantasy element similar to Marvel movies but is a fresh take on the Julie Andrews classic.

This time around, Emily Blunt plays Mary Poppins. Watch this movie for a dose of nostalgia and some sing-a-longs.

Stream Mary Poppins Returns on Netflix.

Movie: ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’

Another feel-good movie in the same vein as classic 1980s John Hughes movies, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, tells the story of a teenage girl who realizes love letters she wrote with the intention of never sending have somehow been mailed.

Sidenote: Be ready to fall in love with Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo)

Watch To All The Boys I’ve Loved on Netflix and get ready for the sequel to be released on Feb. 12, 2020.

Movie: ‘Sherlock Holmes’

Watch Robert Downey Jr. in one of his famous franchise roles besides Avengers: Endgame in Sherlock Holmes.

Downey Jr. plays the iconic detective, Sherlock Holmes, alongside Jude Law as Dr. John Watson. The first installment in the series is available on Netflix and has great action sequences.
