5 Movies to Look Forward to in March
March is officially here, which means it’s time to get excited for some of the fun movies hitting theaters this month. From angry Spartans, to car races, to dystopian thrillers, there’s sure to be something for everyone if you’re looking to go to the movies. So, before you buy your tickets, check out these five movies to look forward to in March.
1. 300: Rise of An Empire (March 7)
Hitting theaters today, 300: Rise of an Empire is the highly anticipated sequel to the hit movie 300. The film is said to be bigger and better than the first, and a must see in 3D. Directed once again by Frank Miller, this movie picks up almost exactly where the first film left off, finding the next wave of Spartans battling a sea full of Persians. Like any Frank Miller film, expect excitement from start to finish, and lots of great special effects.
2. Need For Speed (March 14)
If you’re a fan of The Fast & The Furious and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, then the upcoming movie Need for Speed would be a good choice for you. The story follows Tobey Marshall (Paul), a street racer who was recently released from prison, and plans to exact his revenge in an upcoming car race. Early watchers have been giving the film positive reviews, saying it’s “every boy’s dream movie,” and also extremely fun.
3. Veronica Mars (March 14)
Fans of the television series Veronica Mars are extra exited March is here because that means it’s almost time for the Veronica Mars movie. Starring Kristen Bell once again, the film is said to be true to the television series and finds Veronica as a fresh out of grad school law student, being pulled back into the life she fought to leave behind. A must-see for cult-followers of the series, those not familiar with Miss Mars are sure to enjoy it as well.
4. Divergent (March 21)
Based on the worldwide best seller, Divergent may hit theaters March 21, but tickets for this sure-to-be blockbuster are already on sale now. The dystopian film follows Beatrice Prior — a headstrong teen who shatters societies rules and follows her own individual path, threatening her society’s perfect system. Hailed as the next Hunger Games, this movie is a great choice for the whole family, even if you have not read the book.
5. Noah (March 28)
Starring Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, and Jennifer Connelly, Noah pulls from the age-old Biblical story of a man chosen by God to build an arc to save his family and every other living species from an impending catastrophic flood. Directed by Darren Aronofsky, known for movies such as Black Swan and Requiem For A Dream, the movie is already being lauded for its stunning visuals and cinematography, and with Russell Crowe leading the film, it’s sure to be something to see.
