This year’s MTV Movie Awards brought the debut of several exciting new trailers, including the latest look at Warner Bros.’s Suicide Squad and the first footage from the highly anticipated Kong: Skull Island. Here are all the clips from the awards show that you won’t want to miss out on.
1. Captain America: Civil War
Chris Evans took the stage at the MTV Movie Awards to reveal a clip from the highly anticipated Marvel flick, Captain America: Civil War. The teaser included just over a minute of footage from the movie, illustrating the Cap, Falcon, and Scarlet Witch teaming up to knock out a group of “hostiles.”
The teaser also hints at the growing tension between Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, as they argue over whether the Avengers should be monitored by the government. If you look closely, we also show the tiniest glimpse at the latest armor-donning villain, Crossbones.
Civil War hits theaters on May 6.
2. Suicide Squad
Over in the DC Universe, Warner Bros. unveiled its latest look at this year’s Suicide Squad at the awards. As we know from past trailers, the movie will follow a band of bad guys — including Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Will Smith’s Deadshot, and Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang— who are recruited by the government to team up and form an unlikely black-ops group.
While teaming all these volatile personalities will clearly result in some trouble (enter Jared Leto’s Joker), this trailer highlights some fun moments between the crew as they drink, trade insults, and just cause some general debauchery.
The new trailer also teases the previously confirmed appearance of Ben Affleck’s Batman, with a brief glimpse of the Batmobile surfacing towards the end of the clip.
Suicide Squad is due to premiere on August 5.
3. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
The MTV Movie Awards also brought the debut of a new trailer for Warner Bros.’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The movie stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the author of one of Harry Potter’s schoolbooks, as he heads to New York City in the 1920s. In the new footage, we see Scamander arriving at Ellis Island with his magical creature-filled case (which he makes sure to set to “Muggle-worthy” pre-inspection).
The trailer also reveals that Scamander was expelled from Hogwarts for “endangering human life,” despite Dumbledore’s best efforts to keep him at school. Now in New York, he is careful to keep his case close — and for good reason, as the suitcase is more than just a home for magical creatures (as you see if you wait until the very end of the clip).
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters on November 18.
4. Kong: Skull Island
The awards also brought audiences their first look at Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures’s upcoming Kong: Skull Island. The behind-the-scenes featurette reveals that the movie will be set during the Vietnam War and will follow a group of explorers who arrive at a previously uncharted island that they soon find is filled with strange new creatures.
Brie Larson stars as a photojournalist who wants to preserve nature (including its largest monsters) rather than see it destroyed, while Tom Hiddleston plays Captain James Conrad, the adventurous commander of the expedition. John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, Corey Hawkins, and Jason Mitchell also co-star.
Kong: Skull Island is currently slotted for March 10, 2017.
