What Was Miranda Lambert’s Cheating Scandal Before She Married Brendan McLoughlin?
Iconic country music stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton both seem to have moved on from their divorce in 2015. Shelton has settled down with longtime girlfriend and former fellow judge on The Voice, Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Lambert has been married for several months to NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin.
But Lambert didn’t have a smooth transition from her first ex-husband to her second. After her initial relationship with another singer, Lambert moved on with a still-married musician, Evan Felker. Read on to learn about the cheating scandal and what Felker’s wife had to say on social media about Lambert.
Lambert moved on to Anderson East post-divorce
Lambert famously broke up with Blake Shelton, her husband of four years, in July 2015. There have been vague cheating accusations on both sides, but neither has come forward with an official statement.
Just two months after her divorce, on Sept. 12, Lambert officially started dating an R&B musician from Alabama, Anderson East. East and Lambert shared a PDA-packed, two-year relationship, and broke up in February 2018, according to Taste of Country.
The country singer then took up with married musician Evan Felker
But Lambert didn’t wait long to move on yet again. Radar Online revealed cozy photos of Lambert with Evan Felker, an original member of the now-defunct Oklahoma-based country music group Turnpike Troubadours.
The trouble? Felker was still very married, having allegedly run out on wife Staci Nelson (formerly Staci Felker) to be with Lambert. According to CafeMom, Felker and Lambert started dating immediately after a three-day tour together in February 2018, immediately following her breakup with East. It’s unclear as to whether Lambert cheated on East with Felker.
Felker filed for divorce from his wife of one year suddenly, the same month that he started dating Lambert.
Felker’s wife called the scandal a ‘dumpster fire’
But Felker’s wife Staci Nelson didn’t take the cheating lying down. She spoke out about the scandal on social media, saying that Felker had suddenly “ghosted” her in a “dumpster fire” of a breakup. At one point during the ordeal, she posted a picture of herself and joked darkly, “PSA: If Staci Felker can make it through this week, so can you.”
She even took to Instagram to claim that Lambert had called her obsessively. She shared a screenshot of multiple missed calls from an unknown number and an Idaho number, writing: “FYI, if you’re crazy and crazy famous, this is how your number comes up. Wife’s number doesn’t change. Seems problematic. #insecure #rightfullyso”
“The Idaho number is my husband. The other…is the person who is tired of him calling home,” Nelson claimed.
Lambert and Felker dated for several months. Nelson and Felker got a hasty divorce, finalized Aug. 16, in the meantime. The couple would have celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Sept. 14, according to Radar Online.
Felker and Lambert also broke things off in August 2018, as she described herself as “single and happy” in The Tennessean. Afterward, Nelson said she was moving on from the scandal, joking in October 2019 according to Us Magazine, “I’ve been happy to be the poster child for getting dumped, but I think it’s time that I pass that torch to Pete Davidson and his pretty smile.”
Felker’s wife Staci commented on Lambert’s sudden marriage
Just six months after her breakup with Felker, Lambert revealed that she had suddenly married New York City police officer Brendan McLoughlin (whose ex had a baby just three days afterward), whom she’d met while performing on Good Morning America.
According to Us, Staci Nelson had a few quips ready when fans asked her about the shocking marriage. A follower asked her on Instagram how she could “hold her tongue” about Lambert’s wedding, and Nelson responded with class and humor.
“I have had a year’s training of holding my tongue,” she said. “I did think the dress was really pretty and I wish she would call me and tell me how it was so easy for her to get over my ex because it hasn’t been so easy for me.”
