Happy Halloween, My Chemical Romance fans. It’s been six excruciatingly long years since the emo/punk band announced their split back in 2013. But on Oct. 31, 2019, My Chemical Romance announced a reunion show. And no, this is not a drill. The group’s return was confirmed with a cryptic comeback teaser on Instagram and Twitter. So now is not the time to remain calm.
My Chemical Romance announces reunion show date in Los Angeles
On MCR’s official Instagram and Twitter, the accounts posted a black-and-white image of two angels with “RETURN” written across the top in white letters. The image also unveiled the details of the MCR reunion show, which takes place on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The concert will begin at 8:30 p.m. PT.
The account then attached a caption alongside the photo, which gave a subtle nod to the band’s debut EP. It reads, “Like Phantoms Forever…”
How to buy tickets for the My Chemical Romance reunion show comeback
According to the original posts on the band’s social media accounts, My Chemical Romance reunion show tickets go on sale starting Friday, Nov. 1, at 12 p.m. PT.
You can also purchase tickets on the AXS website and the concert is available for all ages. Additionally, per the AXS page for the Dec. 20 show, ticket prices will begin at $149.50 per person.
Unfortunately, for those of you who reside outside of California or can’t make the reunion show, My Chemical Romance has yet to reveal other dates, much less a comeback tour. The only thing that has been confirmed is the one reunion show.
That said, Alternative Press recently reported MCR could potentially “embark on a full tour following their reunion show in December.” However, the band hasn’t revealed any official details. So of course, fans will have to hold on for more news.
Joe Jonas already spoiled My Chemical Romance’s return
Now, the MCR comeback may not come as a surprise to some fans. Rumors of the reunion have been circulating for some time. And they were amplified once Joe Jonas revealed MCR was rehearsing next to the Jonas Brothers earlier this year.
“I’ve got some dirt,” Jonas told KISS FM in June. “My Chemical Romance were apparently rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which I thought they broke up, so… that’s the gossip.”
Meanwhile, Iero denied the rumors during an interview with the Zach Sang Show, according to Billboard. Nevertheless, here we are with confirmation about MCR’s return to the stage.
Fans react to MCR’s reunion concert news
Regardless, it’s clear most MCR fans are excited about the reunion buzz. And quite frankly, it feels like we’re headed back to the mid-2000s with as much grace as we can possibly muster.
“[My Chemical Romance] is back, time for the emo boys and girls to rise from the floorboards,” one Twitter user wrote. “It never was a phase.”
“Damn….. halloween 2019 is really just “my chemical romance reunion day” huh,’ another fan tweeted.
It’s time to dig out your eyeliner and prepare twelve years of music to play on repeat until Dec. 20. MCR is officially back. But, does this mean new music or an official tour moving forward? For now, fans will have to wait and see what happens next. So stay tuned.
