Natalie Dormer Knows the Ending of ‘Game of Thrones,’ But That Doesn’t Mean She’ll Return

Game of Thrones alum Natalie Dormer knows how the series ends, although that doesn’t mean Margaery Tyrell will be making a shocking return.

Dormer revealed her knowledge of the upcoming season in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, explaining, “I know A to B. I know what B is, but I don’t know how they get B. But I do know B.”

That was surprising to hear considering Dormer hasn’t been involved in Game of Thrones since Season 6, with her character dying a horrible death when Cersei Lannister destroyed the Sept of Baelor. But just because she knows the ending doesn’t mean she has a role in the final season.

Instead, Dormer clarified in a separate interview with The Sun that someone on the show leaked the ending to her.

“I was told the ending by someone on the show and even though I know how it does, I am just dying to see how they get there,” she said. “I’ll still be watching it like a regular viewer, completely agog, because I have no idea how the showrunners will get there. To be honest, I kind of wish I didn’t know.”

Apparently, the Game of Thrones cast has not been doing such a great job of keeping the secrets of the final season. After all, Khal Drogo actor Jason Momoa revealed last year that he, too, knows Season 8 spoilers.

“Just knowing how amazing this season is going to be…” Momoa told EW. “It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to f*ck up a lot of people. And it was a bummer because I’m a huge fan and I didn’t want to know what’s going on. I was like, ‘Damn, I didn’t want to know that!”

Granted, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Khal Drogo could show up in the final season; he already made a post-death appearance back in Season 2. But although he was spotted on set during the filming of Season 8, he told EW that he just came to see his friends, so it sounds like he got the spoilers that way and not because he’s actually involved in the show.

The ending of Game of Thrones is among the most highly-anticipated TV finales in recent memory, and now, much of the cast knows how it goes down. One of those people is Sophie Turner, who told Digital Spy that it’s unpredictable.

“People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who,” she said “It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too.”

For a while, there was some discussion that the Game of Thrones crew might film multiple endings in order to prevent spoilers from getting out. Emilia Clarke has said as much multiple times, including as recently as May.

“I don’t know that I even [know the ending] now,” Clarke said. “I’m being serious. I think they’re filming a bunch of stuff and they’re not telling us. I’m being serious. I’m being deadly serious. I think that they don’t even trust us. There’s lots of different endings that could happen; I think we’re doing all of them and we aren’t being told which is actually what’s going to happen.”

However, it’s unclear if this is actually true or if it’s just a way for the cast to dodge questions about what the ending is; Sophie Turner certainly made it sound like there’s only one ending, and Maisie Williams suggested in an interview that only one ending will be shot, saying, “I don’t think we got the budget to shoot multiple endings.”
