Now 11 episodes in, NCIS season 17 is coming closer and closer to a conclusion, as Ziva David’s narrative arc seems to be reaching its end. While attention has remained fixated on all things Ziva since she first appeared in the season sixteen finale, recent reports surrounding the upcoming episode suggest that a different special someone may seize some of the spotlight.
*’NCIS’ Season 17, Episode 11 spoilers ahead*
Given that many fans were hoping for a “Tiva” reunion, plus Tali, in the last episode of season 17, the writers left much to be desired. NCIS fans even spoke out on social media to express their outrage with the latest episode – letting it be known that it feels like those behind the show are dangling a carrot they never plan to give away.
The end of the episode gave Ziva and Gibbs the closure they never had, as David got to say goodbye to her former boss, as well as the team at large. With words of encouragement for Bishop and some playful, combative banter with Torres, she received all the dialogue akin to an exit that she didn’t get the first time around.
So, is Ziva finally going to reunite with her family? Will fans see Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo on the screen together, and what is the very personal decision McGee has to make? Is it related to Ziva’s departure?
What do we know about ‘NCIS’ Season 17, Episode 12: McGee at the center?
Viacom recently released a press release for the upcoming episode, giving a brief description of what fans should expect (without giving away too many details). The press release stated:
“Flight Plan” – The NCIS team investigates an F-18 crash and the subsequent disappearance of the pilot who operated the aircraft. Also, McGee reluctantly discusses a very personal decision with his teammates, on NCIS, Tuesday, Jan. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television NetworkViacom
First off, McGee is reluctant to discuss the decision with the team; meaning, it’s likely that one of his fellow NCIS agents will have to pull teeth, eventually leading to a moment of vulnerability. Could it be that McGee is having marriage problems? Considering fans don’t get to see his wife, and conversations around his marital life remain slim, could there be trouble in paradise?
Given that the show is NCIS, this may also wind up being a subplot for comic relief, as many personal decisions can also be quite embarrassing. Or, is he planning to visit Ziva and Tony, for an extended amount of time? Does he wish to see Tali? Is he afraid his wife will be angry if he departs for too long with young children at home?
While all remains to be seen, it looks like the episode may take a break from Ziva once again, focusing on the other characters and other stories related to their jobs, before (hopefully) returning to conclude the Former Mossad Agent’s narrative arc in a scene featuring Tony, Ziva, and Tali.
