‘NCIS’: Is This Why Cote de Pablo Isn’t Talking About Ziva’s Return?
Ziva is back. Everyone is buzzing about it, including the producers, the cast, and the fans. The only problem is, fans have yet to hear from Cote de Pablo about her return. NCIS viewers are dying to know why de Pablo decided to come back to the show and how long she’s planning to stay. Here’s why Cote de Pablo might be staying silent on Ziva David’s surprise NCIS appearance.
NCIS producers went to great lengths to keep Ziva’s return a secret
Cote de Pablo’s plan to reprise her role as Ziva David was a huge secret. It was such a big secret that no one knew the star was set to make an appearance—not even the cast. No cast members knew except Mark Harmon (he is the executive producer of the show) and a few members of a skeleton crew.
TVLine revealed how the NCIS producers kept Cote de Pablo’s return as Ziva David under wraps. The bosses told the publication the final scene was omitted from the script and call sheet. Only a few people got a copy. “Showrunners Frank Cardea and Steven D. Binder held copies of the scene pages; the scene filmed with a skeleton crew at midnight, after the full crew had been wrapped for over an hour; and de Pablo arrived to the stages via a back gate entrance, to film the scene with series lead Mark Harmon,” reports TVLine.
CBS bosses might have asked Cote de Pablo to stay silent so she won’t spoil NCIS season 17
One big reason why Cote de Pablo might not be commenting on Ziva is because she could be at risk of revealing what’s to come for NCIS season 17. The bosses at CBS might have asked her to avoid interviews so nothing about the upcoming season will be given away. If she did talk to the media, anything she says could reveal the answers to questions that have yet to be answered, such as whether Ziva is really alive, if she’s staying on for more than the premiere, and what’s really wrong with Gibbs. An interview would just be too risky right now.
What’s next for Cote de Pablo
Cote de Pablo hasn’t had as much career success since the end of her time with NCIS. She had a few small roles here and there, but nothing as big as NCIS. Some of her post-NCIS appearances include the movie The 33 (2015), the television mini-series The Dovekeepers (2015) and the TV movie The Prototype (2016). As of this writing, de Pablo is wrapping up production on a movie titled Seneca, in which she’s set to play the role of Celeste.
