‘NCIS LA’: Could ‘JAGS’ Harm and Mac be Getting Back Together?
NCIS: Los Angeles is back and with it, is the potential that a fan-favorite couple will reconcile. For all of you fans who loved Navy Capt. Harmon “Harm” Rabb Jr. and Marine Lt. Col. Sarah “Mac” Mackenzie together, you may be getting the season that you wanted.
If you haven’t seen Sunday night’s premiere episode of NCIS: LA, you may want to come back and read this later as this article contains quite a few spoilers.
Mac and Harm’s reunion
The longer you go without seeing an ex, the more uncomfortable the reunion will be. In Harm and Mac’s case, they hadn’t seen each other face to face in nine years.
When they do meet again, after a few awkward pleasantries, the two embrace before having to split up to complete their missions.
Eventually, the former lovers end up together at a celebratory dinner where they finally hash out what went wrong between them.
What went wrong in their relationship?
If you have never seen JAG then you may not know the entire backstory between Harm and Mac. Luckily, they break it down in this episode.
“It’s been nine years, Harm,” Mac says. “Why?”
“I thought you were happy in D.C. I was deployed,” Harm responds and then asks Mac the same.
“We’re scared. It’s the only reason that makes sense. We never gave it a shot, a real try. Never put our all into it because we were scared to,” she responds.
“Don’t worry, I’m not standing here in front of you asking you to be with me. I just want us to acknowledge why we’re here tonight as colleagues and not husband and wife.”
Rather than continue the awkward conversation, the formerly engaged couple changes the subject and instead begins discussing how to move forward.
“[Hetty] suggested I put in for a leadership role at an NCIS division in San Diego or the contingency response team,” Harm says.
“It’d be good for you,” Mac concedes. “Plant some roots. It’s hard to get that on the carrier.”
Though they don’t say it, they both know that Harm planting roots could lead to a different future for them both.
“Mac, what are we doing?” Harm eventually asks.
“I don’t know, but we’re way past letting fate decide,” she says.
Will the pair get back together?
Though Mac and Harm seemed to have left their relationship open-ended, Catherine Bell, who plays Mac, was only set to appear in Sunday night’s episode.
But Bell does see a potential future between the characters.
“When Harm and Mac get together, they do discuss all of that — where they’ve been, where they’re going and what their hopes or ideas are,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t want to give anything away, but that’s definitely discussed and anything’s possible. I know I loved reprising this role and I would certainly be open to doing more. That would be a blast for me.”
And once she’s done with her current project, the actress is on board to explore Mac and Harm’s love story some more.
“I mean, I think that’d be great,” she said of coming onto the show again. “I’m in Canada right now doing Good Witch, but that’s done soon and for sure I’d be open to that. I think there were some great reaction. I know my fans are freaking out on Instagram about the possibility.”
