‘NCIS’ Season 17 Episode 10: Mark Harmon’s Gibbs Is Ready to Help Ziva Get Back to Her Family In ‘The North Pole’

CBS finally gave us some details about Ziva David’s (Cote de Pablo) highly anticipated return to NCIS. The character, who was last seen in the first two episodes of season 17, will be returning in epic fashion in the upcoming installment, titled “The North Pole.” With Ziva’s next cameo right around the corner, here is everything we know about NCIS season 17 episode 10.

Ziva returns to ‘NCIS’

NCIS producers have been very secretive about Ziva’s involvement in season 17. Aside from telling us that she will appear in a handful of episodes this season, the show has not revealed anything about her storyline.

That all changed when the network released the first official synopsis for episode 10, titled “The North Pole.”

According to Carter Matt, the summary reveals that Ziva will be back in action for the mid-season finale, and she will be getting a little help from Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the team.

“Gibbs and the team assist Ziva (Cote de Pablo) with ‘the one thing’ she said she would need to take care of before returning to her family,” the synopsis read.

This is exciting on multiple levels. For starters, it confirms that Ziva will be working with the rest of the team, not just Gibbs. This means characters like Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) will be getting more scenes with Ziva — which is super exciting.

It also teases that Ziva’s reunion with her family is right around the corner, which could mean a reunion between her and Tony (Michael Weatherly).

What is Ziva’s mission?

The synopsis is certainly exciting stuff, but there remains a lot of mystery surrounding Ziva’s upcoming cameo.

We still do not know, for instance, what Gibbs and the rest of the team are helping Ziva tackle. It might have something to do with the person who has been tracking her down, though we cannot say for sure.

We also have no idea what Ziva has been doing the past few weeks. The rest of the team has moved on to their normal work since she left, so it will be interesting to see her disrupt their lives once again.

The only thing we can say for sure is that Ziva has not reunited with her family. But perhaps the door will be open for a reunion once the mid-season finale is over. We can only hope that means a cameo from Weatherly when NCIS returns next year.

What about the promo?

Although we have an official synopsis for the coming episode, CBS has yet to release a promotional trailer.

The network is likely waiting until we get closer to the premiere to release the trailer, but fans are definitely looking forward to seeing Ziva in action, even if it’s only a few quick scenes.

That said, the trailer will probably not shed any more light on what the episode is about, but it might tease another storyline or two.

As far as when the promo will drop, our best guess is that CBS will release the trailer sometime next week. More than likely, we won’t get the teasers before next Tuesday, though we can always hope that the network gives us a look sooner than that.

De Pablo dishes on a Ziva and Tony reunion

With Ziva set to return to NCIS in a big way, fans are left wondering when she will reunite with Tony. We know that Tony has been raising their daughter for the past few years, but it is unclear if he knows that Ziva is still alive.

In the second episode of season 17 of NCIS, Gibbs received a phone call from Tony, but Ziva refused to talk to him. This suggests that Tony is out of the loop and has no idea that Ziva is alive.

In a recent interview, de Pablo opened up about the possible reunion and revealed that she is totally on board with the idea. The actress also understands that fans want to see the reunion happen this season, and she assured everyone that Weatherly is on the same page.

“People have been obviously thinking about this for years and the fans are very invested in Tony and Ziva getting back together,” de Pablo shared. “How and when that’s going to happen, I don’t know. I think Michael and me are very invested in the possibility of this happening in the future.”

The only potential issue is with Weatherly’s busy schedule. The actor is starring in his own series, Bull, so making the schedules line up will be a little tricky.

Fans can watch Ziva return to action when episode 10 of season 17 of NCIS airs Dec. 17th on CBS.
