‘NCIS’: What Will Happen to Phineas?
“NCIS” season 17, episode 10 was a shocker. Now that we know who Sahar is, the big question is about Phineas. What will happen to him now? If you want to avoid spoilers, you might want to stop reading right now. Here’s Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s take on what Phineas’ fate might be now that his situation has changed.
Where (and who) is Phineas’ father?
One of the first questions we have is about Phineas’ father. Where is he? Who is he? We don’t have much information to go on. From what we know, Sarah (Louise Barnes) and Phineas’ father were fighting over custody. At this point, viewers haven’t seen him and don’t know what’s really going on with him. If Phineas’ father comes back into the picture, perhaps he will take him back home and raise him. Could we see a family reunion in the next episode?
Could Ziva take Phineas?
Another possibility is that Ziva and Tony could take Phineas and raise him with Tali. Since Phineas is an only child (as far as we know), he might want some company. It could be fun for him to have another child around that he could talk to and spend time with. We’re also wondering if there’s a possibility that Phineas is related to Ziva (Cote de Pablo).
At first, some fans thought Ari might be the father of Phineas (which would make Phineas Ziva’s nephew), but since he is 9 years old (he mentioned this during “NCIS” season 17, episode 9, titled “IRL”), the timeline doesn’t make sense. Phineas would have to be a teenager for the timeline to work. Then again, this is television, so anything could happen. If Ziva takes Phineas with her, it will be bittersweet because Gibbs would be separated from someone he has grown close to.
Will Gibbs adopt Phineas?
If Phineas’ father doesn’t come back and Ziva can’t take him, another person who could take over Phineas’ care is Gibbs (Mark Harmon). He has grown very close to the boy. Gibbs looked after Phineas when Sarah was away (unfortunately, she was at an abandoned building torturing Adam), he helped him with his school science project, and he even helped with a plumbing issue. (Now that we think about it, that plumbing issue could have been intentionally caused by Sarah so she could continue to portray herself as a helpless single mom).
Gibbs has experienced a lot of loss in his life, so adopting Phineas might be just what he needs. On the other hand, it might be an awkward situation since Gibbs killed Phineas’ mother. How would he even begin to tell him about his involvement in her death? When or if Phineas finds out what really happened to Sarah, he would likely have a hard time trusting Gibbs. He might even despise him and never want to have contact with him again. We’re interested to see how this all turns out. Will Phineas be OK?
