‘NCIS’: Ziva Is Back. How Are Phineas and Sarah Involved?
“NCIS” fan favorite Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) will be making her third return in season 17. There’s news that Phineas (Jack Fisher) and Sarah will be in this episode. How are the Ziva and Phineas storylines related? Here’s Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s take on the upcoming episode of “NCIS.”
How do Ziva, Phineas, and Sarah’s storylines connect?
Fans are buzzing about Ziva’s return in “NCIS” season 17, episode 10 (titled “The North Pole.”) Phineas and Sarah will appear in this episode. One big question we have is where do Gibbs’ neighbors fit into Ziva’s storyline? Is Phineas’ mother working with Ziva, or is she somehow plotting against Gibbs? Last season, Vance’s girlfriend turned out to be a spy, so it wouldn’t be far-fetched if Sarah was a spy, too. Right now, it’s unclear why Phineas and Sarah will be in this episode and how they will figure into the overall storyline.
It looks like Bishop is undercover again
In the promo photos, we also see Bishop looking very different than she usually does. She has her hair slicked back and she’s wearing bright red lipstick. Bishop is also sporting a sleek, black outfit. When Bishop is on the job, she usually has a very understated look, so it’s possible she could be out on an assignment. The last time she dressed differently was when she joined Torres on an undercover assignment. It’s too early to tell if her assignment has anything to do with Ziva.
Why Ziva is returning for this ‘NCIS’ episode
Ziva is back because has some loose ends to tie. According to CBS, there is one thing she must take care of before she reunites with her family. In the promo pictures, it looks like Ziva is actively taking part in an investigation. Although she’s not wearing formal gear, she does have a pair of plastic gloves on, like the other NCIS agents.
Diona Reasonover says Ziva’s return will be a ‘life or death situation’
Will the writers kill Ziva or another character? Reasonover told “TV Insider” that Ziva’s return will be related to a dire situation. “It is a life or death situation. Ziva, Gibbs, [and] the whole team really and truly have to put this case front and center because if they don’t, someone will die,” Reasonover told the publication.
In an interview with CBS, executive producer Steve Binder said Mark Harmon suggested a storyline that could cause major changes for the series. Perhaps this episode will be part of Harmon’s plan. “Mark had come to me with a story a long time ago that I thought was interesting and it’s actually going to be the basis for this show. And I can tell you that it places some of our characters in jeopardy and it pushes some people beyond their limits to cope,” said Binder. Harmon added that the writers and producers have been “playing with changes for a number of these characters all year.”
