Netflix Is Giving Grey’s Anatomy Fans an Early Christmas Present—No, It’s Not More Episodes of Grey’s

For Grey’s Anatomy fans, the month of December is bleak. The fall finale premiered on Nov. 21, 2019, and the series will not come back until Jan. 23, 2020. This hiatus means a full eight weeks without Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), and the rest of Shondaland’s favorite characters.

The only good news comes in the form of an early Christmas present from Netflix. Let’s take a look at how the streaming giant is going to make Grey’s Anatomy fans happy this holiday season.

How did ‘Grey’s Anatomy’s fall finale leave fans hanging?

In true Shondaland fashion, the last episode of Grey’s Anatomy before the winter break ended with a trauma. Many of the doctors were relaxing at Joe’s Bar, having a beer after a long day, when a car came crashing through the walls of the underground tavern.

In other big news, Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) sent Meredith a package in the form of a sexy new chief of pediatric surgery, Dr. Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood)—McWidow. The surgeon is also a widow, like Meredith, and has that arrogant attitude that she tends to fall love.

There was also plenty of sad news on the show. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) has a miscarriage after spending most of the episode swapping adorable pregnancy stories with Amelia.

Speaking of babies, Jo (Camilla Luddington) popped over to the Station 19 firehouse (Grey’s 2nd spinoff) to be a Safe Haven volunteer. Instead of giving the baby that was left at the fire station to the social worker, she takes it home. We all know where that is going to go for her and Alex.

Back to Amelia, we find out that her baby’s father is probably not who she thought it was. She is 24 weeks pregnant instead of 20, meaning the baby-daddy might be Owen Hunt’s (Kevin McKidd) instead of Link’s (Chris Carmack).

Fans are in an uproar over Amelia’s baby-daddy drama

Although viewers are excited about McWidow, the great debate is over who the father of Amelia’s baby is. Many fans are hoping that Link is still the father. They find that the Amelia-Link relationship is adorable and want to see more of it.

“Owen brings down whoever he is with,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “And obviously, all the hinting about proposing/marriage, we aren’t nearly through it yet. Both Amelia and Teddy are far more interesting when they are with ANYONE other than Owen.”

“I get that the show wants to give us some drama instead of just two happy, separate families, but can’t they do something else?” requested another fan. “Why does Owen have to always be involved in Amelia’s life?”

It sounds like fans would like to see more happiness in Amelia’s life. Netflix might have something to help viewers get a little more Amelia before Grey’s Anatomy returns in January.

Why are ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ fans so excited about this one show returning to Netflix in December?

On Dec. 22, 2019, Netflix plans to drop all six seasons of Grey’s Anatomy‘s original spinoff, Private Practice. That means fans will get to see a whole lot more of Amelia, as well as Addison Montgomery Shepherd (Kate Walsh), who was originally from Grey’s Anatomy.

“I’m looking forward to finally watching the whole thing,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “I’ve read so many spoilers, but I’m sure I’ll forget enough to enjoy it.”

“I only got to see a few episodes with Amelia in them,” the user added, “so I’m looking forward to seeing her and Addison interacting on Private Practice

When Private Practice drops on Netflix, there will still be one month to go before the return of Grey’s Anatomy. Fans will have plenty of time to catch up on Amelia’s backstory and relive all of those crossover moments between the two shows. You can catch new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy beginning Jan. 23, 2020.
