How Much Does A Netflix Subscription Cost?
Netflix has taken over the entertainment industry. In the past, we used to flock to video stores to rent VHS tapes and DVDs. On the weekends, we headed to movie theaters to see the latest blockbuster on the big screen. In 2019, things have changed drastically. Instead of paying late return fees to Blockbuster or arguing over how much butter to put on our movie popcorn, we all lounge in front of our TVs to watch Netflix from the comfort of our own homes.
So how much does a Netflix subscription cost and how can you get a Netflix free trial?
Netflix subscription price
As of Jan. 15, 2019, Netflix has increased their prices for customers living in the United States. Since 2017, Netflix subscription costs have remained the same. Now, things are going to get a lot pricier for fans of the streaming service.
The price of Netflix’s most popular plan
This plan includes HD streaming on up to two Internet-connected devices at the same time. The price for this subscription will increase from $11/month to $13/month.
Netflix single subscription price
This single subscription price will rise from $8/month to $9/month –which is the smallest price hike of Netflix’s biggest subscription price increase of all-time
The price of Netflix’s most robust plan
The four-subscriber plan — which includes Ultra HD, will increase from $14/month to $16/month. New customers will be impacted immediately, and existing Netflix subscribers will be notified about the pending price increase via email.
A Netflix spokesperson explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience for the benefit of our members.” Netflix currently has 58 million subscribers in the United States with nearly 80 million subscribers abroad.
How to get a Netflix free trial
If you’ve never tried Netflix before and you’re unsure if you want to take the plunge, the streaming service does offer a free trial period for new customers. Generally, the free trial lasts for just 30 days, but special offers can extend to up to three months of free Netflix.
Once you begin your free trial you are free to cancel at any time. However, once the trail ends, you will be charged for the subscription service.
Do you need a credit card for your Netflix free trial?
Yes, the streaming giant would like some form of payment information before you snag your Netflix free trial. This way, if you do keep the service once you’ve binged watched Orange Is the New Black and The Crown, your service will not be interrupted. Once you add your credit card information into your profile and choose your subscription plan, Netflix will send an authorization request to your financial institution to verify that your payment method works. You will not be charged for this request, and you will not be charged if you choose to cancel before the trial has ended.
If you decide that you do need Netflix to chill, you will be charged a monthly flat rate once your free trial is over.
