‘The Crown’: There’s a Random Mouse Running Around in a Season 4 Episode
It has finally arrived, Season 4 of The Crown, which highlights Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ marriage, has finally hit Netflix. There has been a ton of anticipation surrounding how creator Peter Morgan would bring the People’s Princess to life.
With newcomer Emma Corrin, it looks like The Crown was able to grasp everything from the late princess’ style to her mannerisms. As one of the most opulent TV series on-screen, Netflix has spared no expense when bringing the British royal family to the small-screen.
However, eagle-eyed fans have noticed an interesting visitor running through the frames in a Season 4 episode. It looks like the crew had no idea a mouse was hanging out with them on set.
Inside Season 4 of ‘The Crown’
Season 4 of The Crown begins in the late ’70s, just before Princess Diana entered the royal fold. According to the press release from Netflix, “While Charles’ (Josh O’Connor) romance with a young Lady Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin) provides a much-needed fairytale to unite the British people, behind closed doors, the Royal family is becoming increasingly divided.”
As the world turns its attention to what appears to be the romance of the ages, Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) is dealing with yet another Prime Minister. Britain’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson) is giving the queen a bit of a run for her money.
With two seasons left following Season 4, Morgan set off to cover as much ground as possible.
‘The Crown’ is one of the most expensive TV series ever made
The Crown has nailed every single intricate detail of the British royal family and its history, from the mega-talented cast to the stunning sets and costumes. In fact, it is said to be one of the most expensive TV series ever made.
The BBC has reported that Season 1 of The Crown alone cost Netflix upward of $130 million. This means that each episode runs roughly about $13 million, which is even more than the massive amounts of money spent on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Since The Crown is set to run for six seasons, by the time it finishes its run on Netflix, it could cost up to $780 million.
There is a random mouse running around in an episode of ‘The Crown’
Despite all of the money spent to bring The Crown to fans, they could not stop a random mouse from running through a frame in an episode of Season 4.
While sitting riveted during Episode 3, fans noticed a random mouse running quickly through the frame. It happens so fast that if you blink, you’ll miss it, but if you pause or look super close, a furry friend with a tail goes darting across the floor. In a quiet scene with the Queen Mother (Marion Bailey) looks like The Crown’s rodent wanted to make sure Buckingham Palace was authentic as possible. You can spot the mouse just past the 1:15 mark.
Fans literally could not deal. The mouse got so much hype that The Crown’s Twitter page tweeted a shot of the mouse saying, “Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series?”
