Is a New Bachelorette Coming Soon? Reality Steve Updates 2021 Spoilers

As The Bachelor Season 25 starts to wind down, viewers are looking toward The Bachelorette Season 17. The current season has had a number of fan-favorites, including Abigail Herginer, Bri Springs, Katie Thurston, and Michelle Young — just to name a few. Now, members of Bachelor Nation are hoping to meet the next lead soon. But recently, franchise blogger Reality Steve updated his spoilers about the new bachelorette in 2021 — and it seems a lot has changed.

[Spoiler alert: Potential spoilers about the new Bachelorette Season 17 lead in 2021.]

‘The Bachelor’s Katie Thurston was reportedly ABC’s ‘top choice’ for ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 17

On Feb. 6, The Bachelor franchise creator Mike Fleiss revealed the new bachelorette would be announced soon.

“The official announcement of your next #TheBachelorette is coming soon! Right here,” Fleiss wrote on Twitter.

Then a few hours later, Reality Steve claimed that Katie was the new bachelorette for season 17.

“At the ‘Women Tell All’ taping this past Thursday, Katie Thurston was announced as the next bachelorette,” the blogger wrote on Twitter

Then a few days later, Reality Steve corrected his tweet, revealing that Katie wasn’t announced as the next bachelorette at the “Women Tell All” taping. But he suggested that an official announcement was coming soon.

“Katie was NOT announced as Bachelorette at WTA,” Reality Steve wrote on Twitter. “But I’ve been told it’s confirmed it’s Katie and she’ll be named this week.”

Meanwhile, Variety reported that Katie was ABC’s “top pick” to be the next lead for The Bachelorette Season 17. However, the publication claimed the network hasn’t made a final decision.

While many Bachelor Nation viewers waited for The Bachelorette to announce Katie or another fan-favorite as the next lead, Reality Steve shared a major spoiler update.

On Feb. 16, the blogger questioned whether Katie would become the new Bachelorette Season 17 lead. He also claimed production was already “pushed back” by a week. But ultimately, Reality Steve made it clear that he doesn’t have all the answers right now.

“When checking back with it this weekend, I was told the same thing: Katie was going to be the Bachelorette. Now, I don’t see that happening,” Reality Steve wrote. “Hell, we don’t even know if there WILL be a Bachelorette season. Maybe they delay it past BIP.”

He continued, “There are so many questions right now, and unfortunately, I know you all want answers, but we just don’t have them all at this time.”

For now, Bachelor Nation fans will just have to wait for a new update from Reality Steve or an official announcement from The Bachelorette team. But according to the blogger, the franchise is “at a major crossroads” after Chris Harrison’s interview with Rachel Lindsay.

On Feb. 9, Harrison defended Rachael Kirkconnell from Matt James’ season of The Bachelor after she was photographed at an antebellum plantation-themed fraternity party in 2018. A few days later, the host apologized for defending and excusing “historical racism.” Harrison also revealed he was “stepping aside for a period of time.” That said, the statement indicated that he would eventually return and only noted his absence from The Bachelor’s “After the Final Rose.”

In the Feb. 16 blog post, Reality Steve questioned whether Harrison would come back to host The Bachelorette Season 17, as it is expected to start filming in March 2021. The blogger also pointed out that Harrison’s recent comments shed some light on the franchise’s deep-rooted issues with race and diversity.

Now, with many voices advocating for major change, it seems like all eyes are on ABC to move forward. But Reality Steve predicted that the network will have to speak out soon. So stay tuned.

“I’d say these next few weeks will probably be the most important weeks in this show’s history,” Reality Steve wrote.
