New Duggar Family Rebel Jill Duggar Has Undergone A Complete Transformation Since Leaving ‘Counting On’
It’s been a year-and-a-half since Jill Duggar left Counting On after TLC fired her husband, Derick Dillard, when he made transphobic comments on Twitter, and it appears that she needed that separation from her family and the popular reality show to discover her own style. Since leaving Counting On, Jill has undergone a complete transformation and is no longer following her dad Jim Bob’s strict dress code.
Growing up Duggar
When TLC first introduced Jill Duggar to the world more than a decade ago, she dressed just like her mom and sisters in modest clothing that covered her from the neck to the ankle. Her wardrobe included conservative tops with sleeves, long, denim skirts, floor-length plaid or floral dresses, and flats.
Jill never wore anything revealing because that was against the rules, and normal teenage fashion like short skirts, jeans, or high heels was off limits. Her swimwear was either a short-sleeved dress or a t-shirt with culottes, and when Jill worked out or participated in physical activities, she still wore t-shirts and skirts.
The dress code didn’t seem to bother Jill; and in fact, she appeared to embrace it. She even went so far as to turn her uniform pants into a skirt when she volunteered as a firefighter.
Jill Duggar’s fashion started to change when she became a mom
When Jill married Derick in 2014, he was officially in charge of Jill’s wardrobe, as the family believes that the husband is the head of the household, and he is the one who imposes a dress code for the family. Since Jill’s dad, Jim Bob, introduced her to Derick, the expectation was that he would have the same rules. And, at first, that appeared to be the case.
As In Touch Weekly points out, Jill Duggar dressed modestly as a newlywed, often wearing traditional Duggar outfits like a t-shirt with a cardigan and a knee-length skirt with leggings underneath.
Her shoes were always flats, sneakers, or sandals, and she kept her hair long but added a glimpse of personal style every now and then with statement headbands.
It wasn’t until Jill gave birth to her two boys – Israel and Samuel – that she started making some bold fashion choices, and it appears that Derick has no problem with her act of rebellion.
Jill Duggar shocks with tattoos and piercings
In late 2017, around the same time that Derick lost his job on Counting On and Jill left the show as an act of solidarity, she shocked fans when she posted pics on Instagram that featured her new nose piercing and a tattoo on her hand.
The design on her hand was just a temporary henna tattoo, but the nose piercing was very real, and it was the first time Jill noticeably broke one of her parents’ rules.
By the beginning of 2018, Jill Duggar started following in her sister Jinger’s footsteps and added cute pairs of jeans and pants to her wardrobe. However, at first, she wore them under skirts and dresses before eventually ditching that layer and wearing the pants by themselves.
Short skirts and high heels
Over the past year, Jill has started dressing differently for fancier occasions, wearing dresses and skirts that hit above the knee, and she has even added heels. When it comes to outdoor wear, Jill Duggar shared a pic of a hiking trip she went on with her husband, and she was wearing Bermuda-length denim shorts. She also wore the shorts during a trip to the family’s favorite restaurant, Chick-fil-A.
Earlier this year, Jill partnered with some different clothing brands and has been showing off her new style on Instagram. Now, she fills her closet with jeans, jumpsuits, maxi-dresses, above-the-knee skirts, and multiple pairs of heels.
She also recently wore a pair of short shorts when she attended her friend’s son’s Pre-K graduation.
Jill Duggar is looking better than ever, and she seems to be enjoying following her own rules.
