New ‘Jessica Jones’ Photos May Reveal a Big Spoiler About Season 2
Season 2 of Jessica Jones will return to Netflix on March 8. Since we are approaching that air date, we are getting more looks into what’s to come. Many storylines were wrapped up at the end of last season, but the characters, especially Jessica, will have to deal with the lasting consequences.
We will also learn more details about her backstory. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg teased “I think I just want to continue with her character. She’s a very damaged character and her damage goes beyond Kilgrave. There’s a lot to mine from in her backstory and in her present-day situation. I think we’ll find something.”
We get a hint of that and more from the recently released photos from the upcoming episodes. So what insights can we take from the new pictures? Here are seven things we learned from the new Jessica Jones images — including one potentially huge spoiler (and see page 8 for the exciting trailers).
1. Jeri Hogarth is back and she doesn’t look happy
This picture shows Hogarth sitting alone and looking unhappy. At the end of the first season, she realized the consequences of her hunt for power. But we still have no clue whether she has learned anything, and after Season 1, actress Carrie-Anne Moss didn’t either.
“It’s up to [the writers],” she told Marvel. “Probably the more interesting choice would be that she hasn’t learned a lot, because it’d be interesting to play that. I trust the writers and I trust they will create something great for me [in Season 2].”
Next: These two characters will be teaming up this season.
2. Malcolm and Trish are teaming up again
If you were worried that Malcolm and Trish might fall to the side this season, don’t worry. The photos show them together, and Trish is holding a gun so something is going down.
That’s not the only photo showing that Trish means business either.
Next: We are going to see Kilgrave again.
3. We are getting Kilgrave flashbacks
Kilgrave is dead, and we will be seeing the fallout of that in Season 2. That means audiences can expect flashbacks from when he was alive.
We see in one picture that Kilgrave is hovering over an upset Jessica. This makes sense given that star Krysten Ritter previously said she doesn’t “think all that trauma and PTSD goes away now that she kills [Kilgrave].”
Next: Don’t count Jessica out for detective work this season.
4. Jessica will most likely go back to private investigation work
In one photo, we also see Jessica back at her desk, which hints that she might take on a few cases this season.
Another photo shows her at a hospital, possibly a dark office, and more. So we will see her snooping and sneaking around plenty of locations this season, which could lead to some exciting action sequences.
Next: This photo drops one major spoiler about where Jessica could end up in Season 2.
5. Jessica Jones is making a call from jail
One of the most interesting photos released from the new season drops what could be a potentially big spoiler: Jessica in jail, complete with chains and handcuffs. She is making a call while an officer watches with a hand on her gun.
Being imprisoned will obviously make it harder for her to do her job, so it should be interesting to see how she gets out.
Next: Things are going to get messy in the new episodes.
6. There will be more destruction
When you have a hero that is strong enough to pick up pretty much anything, you have to put that to use. So there will be plenty more destruction to look forward to this season.
In one picture, we can see Jessica pick up something large off a road. Given the background, this picture also seems to suggest that this season will venture outside of New York City as well.
Next: There is still one thing fans have yet to see.
7. We still have to wait to see Hellcat
Fans are waiting for Trish to become Hellcat, and although there were some set photos that made it look like the transformation may be coming, there still isn’t a picture of her in the costume. While there are multiple photos of Trish in action, it looks like we’ll have to wait for the episodes to premiere to see Hellcat in action.
8. Get ready for a look into Jessica’s past
On Feb. 7, 2018, Netflix released the first full trailer for Jessica Jones Season 2. And it is dark.
The angst-filled 2-minute video shows Jessica investigating how she obtained her powers — and was brought back from the dead — following the car accident that killed the rest of her family. There’s also a new foe determined to take down her business, a deadly killer on the loose, and, of course, plenty of drinking and swearing.
And on Feb. 20, 2018, a second trailer arrived. This one features a lot more commentary from Jones herself, who is now attending anger management classes (though she’s angrier than ever).
