Nick Cannon Opens Up About Eminem Beef Over Mariah Carey

Nick Cannon recently sat down for a wide-ranging interview, where he discussed everything from his career to his latest scholastic endeavors. But his comments on his time with Mariah Carey arguably stood out the most.

The television personality not only talked about their relationship, which lasted from 2008 to 2014, but he also shared some juicy details about the feud he found himself in with Eminem shortly after he and Carey got married.

How Cannon and Eminem’s beef began

It all started after Cannon and Carey got married in April of 2008. Following the ceremony, Eminem released a diss track titled, “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” where he asked, “Mariah whatever happened to us/Why did we ever have to break up?”

He also said he wanted Carey back and told her husband to “back the f*ck up.”

The Butterfly singer has denied ever having a relationship with Eminem.

Cannon didn’t take the diss song lightly

On Sept. 19, Cannon appeared on T.I.’s ExpediTIously podcast, where he reflected on the first time he heard “Bagpipes From Baghdad.”

“I think we were flying back on a jet from Africa or somewhere and this motherf*cker drops a song, like, talking sh*t,” he recalled. “Calling [Mariah] all kinds of b*tches and h*es. I’m like, ‘This is my wife. This is my new wife.’ I wrote a letter first, I don’t even know if Twitter had come out yet.”

“So, I wrote this long a** letter pretty much saying, ‘Look, I respect you as an artist,'” he continued. “‘I’m actually a fan, and I think you’re one of the best ever to do it. But from man to man, you are talking out of pocket to my wife. You gotta be held accountable for that, so I need to see you face-to-face.'”

Cannon said he also “went looking for” Eminem after the song came out

“I was like, look, if you wanna get on the phone, if I gotta go to Detroit… You done disrespected my wife,” he said. “I gotta show my wife I’m a man, for one. And two, he said my name. I said, ‘I know I’m not going to be able to out rap you, but I will whoop your a**.'”

They obviously did not fight, but the beef did eventually fizzle out.

Cannon went on to say that he believes Carey won the feud after releasing “Obsessed,” where she seemingly took aim at Eminem. The “Stan” rapper followed up by releasing one more diss track called, “The Warning.”

Where do Cannon and Eminem stand today?

Well, they’re not what you would call friends, but Cannon respects Eminem as an artist. In the interview, he called the rapper one of the best to ever do it and praised much of his music.

Eminem, on the other hand, has not yet commented on the interview. But he doesn’t talk to the press much, so you shouldn’t hold your breath for any statement.

We guess you’ll just have to wait and see whether he references this drama in a new song.
