Nick Cannon Throws Shade at Ariana Grande: Are the Stars Feuding?
Nick Cannon took aim at Ariana Grande on The Wendy Williams Show on Feb. 5. The Masked Singer host is currently filling in for Williams, and he decided to dedicate a portion of the show to Pete Davidson’s budding relationship with Kate Beckinsale, but he didn’t stop there. Cannon took the time to discuss how an older woman is precisely what Davidson needs after his very public relationship and breakup with Grande. While Cannon’s comments were pointed, everyone is wondering if Cannon is really feuding with Grande.
What did Nick Cannon say about Ariana Grande?
Cannon had plenty of time to talk about Davidson during the show. He mentioned that he was spending time with the SNL star in Brooklyn recently. While they were together, Cannon offered the funnyman some dating advice. According to Cannon, he told the younger Davidson to stick to older women from now on.
Cannon went on to note that older women know what they want, and they don’t play games. He even poked fun at Grande’s newest ink, a Japanese tattoo that was supposed to read “7 rings” but instead is the Japanese character for a charcoal barbeque. Cannon said “that’s some young girl stuff. Older women don’t like tardy barbeques.”

Nick Cannon and Ariana Grande do know each other. In fact, Cannon has spoken about Grande in the past and has known the pop princess since her time on VICTORiOUS, a Nickelodeon television series. According to BET, Cannon attempted to introduce ex-wife Mariah Carey to the young songstress, but Carey was having none of it.
According to Cannon, Carey was turned off by the public comparison between the two singers. Carey was particularly bothered when people began referring to Grande as “the new Mariah Carey.” Cannon has talked kindly about Grande’s talent on multiple occasions, but it seems his thoughts on the pop star have soured now that she’s no longer dating his friend.
Nick Cannon’s friendship with Pete Davidson
Cannon and Davidson have been friends for years. Davidson has appeared on Cannon’s now-defunct show Wild N’ Out. In fact, the two are so close that Davidson called Cannon before he asked Grande to marry him last year. At the time Cannon gave Davidson his blessing, noting that he is a hopeless romantic and was willing to officiate the wedding, according to People.
During an interview, Cannon said he liked both Grande and Davidson very much and believed they were a great couple. Cannon was also quick to rush down the aisle. Cannon married Mariah Carey in 2008. Carey is ten years older than Cannon. The couple separated in 2014. Their divorce was finalized in 2016.
Does Nick Cannon really have a problem with Ariana Grande?
Because of his close relationship with Davidson, it makes sense why Cannon would have an opinion on the doomed couple’s relationship. Davidson was hit hard by the end of his whirlwind romance with the pop star. Grande’s subsequent song “Thank You, Next” dd little to heal Davidson’s pain. Cannon is likely just looking out for his pal, and he decided to throw shade at Grande to do it.
