Nicki Minaj Reveals Her Wedding Plans With Controversial Boyfriend Kenneth Petty

It’s only a matter of time before Nicki Minaj marries her boyfriend, Kenneth Petty. They’ve already obtained a marriage license, and Minaj said in August that they had plans to tie the knot in “about 80 days.”

With the days winding down, fans have been more curious than ever about Minaj’s big day. Luckily for them, she just did an interview where she opened up about her plans. During the conversation, Minaj talked about her love for Petty, whether they’ll have a big wedding, and more.

Minaj’s comments on her upcoming wedding

The “Chun Li” rapper spilled some details to The Shade Room in an interview published on Oct. 20, telling the outlet that she and Petty intend to sign their marriage license soon. However, she said she did not know when they would have an “actual wedding.”

“We’ll definitely do the paperwork portion of the marriage, but the actual wedding, I don’t know,” Minaj said.

“You know when you’re a little girl and you want this big beautiful wedding, and I used to think I was one of those girls. I always wanted the fairytale. But then the things that used to matter to you don’t matter as much because I remember wanting those things with people, where real love wasn’t there,” she explained.

“So now I feel like everything has finally lined up and matched up being that I’m madly in love with this man,” Minaj continued. “He’s also my best friend. The things that used to matter to me before don’t matter as much now. So yes, we’re going to have a big wedding eventually.”

It sounds like Minaj can’t wait to marry Petty. But not everyone is thrilled.

Many people have taken issue with Petty’s criminal history, which includes an attempted rape charge and a manslaughter charge. However, Minaj has repeatedly shut down her naysayers, reportedly believing that he has changed.

Minaj had previously said they could get married really soon

She also told E! News in an interview published on Oct. 16 that their big day could happen at any moment.

“We’ve gotten our marriage license, but there’s a particular pastor who I want to officiate and so she was just made available as of today,” she explained to the outlet. “She told me she’s available within the next week, so we could be married in the next seven days.”

But don’t expect to see her in a traditional wedding gown.

“That’s too much,” Minaj said when asked whether she’d found a dress. “I can’t. There’s no way. That will take too long to plan. I’m not good with that. I’m a procrastinator, so it would come in, like, two years from now.”

The update comes after Minaj said in August on her show, Queen Radio, that they’d obtained a new marriage license after their first one expired.

“We still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again,” she explained. “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”

“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later,” she continued. “I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out. Before the 90 days is over, yes, I will be married.”

“I’m very happy about that because my baby makes me so happy,” she added.
