Arguably, Normani’s “Motivation” is one of the biggest debut songs by a solo artist this year. The former Fifth Harmony singer burst onto the scene with a big bang and made her mark. Now, it seems fitting that the pop and R&B siren has released a remix to the single with a rapper with whom she shares a connection.
Normani unleashes the ‘Motivation’ remix
Fans have been wondering why Normani has been quiet lately after the single became a huge hit and she delivered a show-stopping performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. The only explanation is that she has been working hard on music that will be featured alongside “Motivation” on her debut album.
Then, out of nowhere on Sunday, the singer teased a “Motivation” remix on her Instagram story and hinted that 21 Savage would be the featured rapper. On Monday, the song was released under the title “Motivation (Savage Remix).”
How does 21 Savage transform ‘Motivation’?
In the remix, 21 Savage talks about being in a relationship with someone as an introvert and dealing with a potential liar as a lover.
He raps in part, “Don’t take it person’, baby, sometimes I be shy. I’mma leave her when she say I always lie. You can’t hear the rumors when you’re this high in the sky. If you can’t touch the ground, we complement each other, fly.”
The connection between Normani and 21 Savage
While the collaboration between the two may seem somewhat random, it’s actually not at all. One of Normani’s very first solo song covers was “Sneakin'” by Drake. The original song features none other than 21 Savage. They also share a city connection.
Normani mostly reps Houston, but she was also raised in New Orleans before her family relocated to Texas after Hurricane Katrina. But the singer wasn’t born in either of those cities. Instead, she was born in Atlanta, which happens to be the city that 21 Savage reps.
Who knows which other featured artists Normani will enlist for her debut album, which her fans (lovingly known as the Normani Nation) are eagerly anticipating.
