Revealed: Olivia Jade Addressed Her Cringe-Worthy College Comments Just Weeks Before the Admissions Scandal Broke

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s daughter, Olivia Jade might have been unaware of her parents’ expensive efforts to get her admitted to USC, but the now-former student’s past cringe-worthy comments about school didn’t exactly help her case. That said, in her second semester, the social media influencer had a change of heart and addressed her original statement just weeks before the college admissions scandal broke.

Prior to starting school, Olivia Jade took to her YouTube channel to discuss her admission into USC. “I don’t know how much of school I’m gonna [sic] attend but I’m gonna [sic] go in and talk to my deans and everyone and hope that I can try and balance it all,” the influencer told her followers. “But I do want the experience of like game days, partying … I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know,” she added.

On February 5, 2019, Olivia Jade posted a college video blog on YouTube titled Spend Time w [sic] Me at College! (friends, parties, class, etc.), where she gave viewers insight into her life as a freshman at USC. The vlog showcased the influencer’s friends and her getting ready for a fraternity party and subscribers even caught a glimpse of one of her classes at the university. And, following the clip, she addressed the comments she made in the past.

“Anytime I do a college video people are like ‘why do you only show you going out of getting ready for a party like it’s not only about partying’ and before I went to college I was super naive and ignorant and dumb and I was like ‘I’m not going to college cause [sic] I want an education, like I’m going to meet people and be social and party’ and like that’s literally the dumbest thing you could ever say especially when I had — or I have the opportunity to have such a good reputation,” she confessed to the camera. “So it’s not that I don’t show the education part because I don’t care. Because now that I’m here, it’s like actually really interesting and I love it and that’s why I’m still here,” she continued.

The real reason Olivia Jade dropped out of school

Gaining interest in her education halfway through her first year wasn’t enough to keep the influencer in class. Although many of the schools involved in the scandal decided to handle the situation on a case-by-case basis, Olivia didn’t wait around for her meeting with admissions. Instead, she and her sister (who was a sophomore and also admitted to the school on false pretenses) both dropped out of USC to avoid bullying. According to a TMZ source, the Giannulli family believes that ‘if the girls went back to USC, they would be ‘visciously bullied,” which is why they decided to withdraw from the university. They allegedly won’t apply to another school for a while.

Olivia is (understandably) devastated by the situation as it has cost her not only her college education — which, by the sound of it, she was starting to enjoy — but also her successful influencer career. On the heels of the scandal, the YouTuber was dropped by Sephora and other sponsorship deals.
