Now, she’s reliving that dream at East High School, as the high school drama teacher directing their own production of the DCOM.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series tells the story of one cast as they put on their stage production of High School Musical. The Disney+ exclusive stars Olivia Rodrigo as an actress on the rise, with sights set on playing the lead in her high school’s musical. Her ex-boyfriend Ricky, portrayed by Joshua Bassett, also joins the cast as Troy Bolton. Matt Cornett stars as E.J., the musical-loving boyfriend of Nini.

“It was pretty crazy,” Matt Cornett said, according to Pop Sugar. “The first scene I filmed was in the cafeteria. I was shell-shocked walking into the school and being like, ‘Oh wow, this is the cafeteria. This is like where one of the biggest numbers went down with ‘Stick to the Status Quo.’ It was almost a starstruck moment.”
