‘OutDaughtered’: Adam Busby Calls His Family’s Mold-Infested Home ‘Completely Unrecognizable’ Now
We’ve been watching the Busbys on OutDaughtered for years, and it’s hard to believe how fast Adam and Danielle Busby’s six daughters have grown. The couple attained fame for having the first set of all-female quintuplets in the U.S. — and with their older daughter, Blayke, in the mix, that means there are six little girls running around their household.
As if taking care of six daughters wasn’t enough to worry about, Adam and Danielle had to deal with a mold infestation in their home. And it caused them to have to move out completely and find a new place to stay for an extended period. Now, it seems the house is still in disrepair, as Adam has recently commented on the state of it.
The Busbys had to move out of their beloved home and into a rental
Fans of OutDaughtered had seen the Busbys in the same home for years, but Danielle and Adam were in for a rude awakening when one of the quintuplets, Ava, had difficulty breathing. After taking Ava to the hospital and having an inspector come into their home, the couple discovered it was a mold infestation causing the illness, People reports. And it seemed to be a seriously dire situation, as Danielle called the results “terrifying.”
“The whole upstairs seems to be covered with mold and it’s really bad in Ava and Olivia’s room, so my stomach is turning over because the numbers are like, astronomical,” Danielle said on the show. As far as what needed to be done to remedy the problem, the inspector recommended trashing all pillows and mattresses, washing all clothes, and promptly moving out of the home so it could be professionally dealt with. For this reason, the Busbys then had to find a rental home they could live in for six months or more.
Danielle recently talked about the state of the original home
Since the terrifying mold discovery, fans have wondered how it all panned out. And it seems Adam, Danielle, and the kids are still living in the rental home. As Danielle recently told Good Housekeeping, “We’re still living the life of the molded home and still in transition of whatever that means, and we still have not settled on what’s happening with our old home and where we’re living now.”
It seems Danielle’s OK with the rental now — but she definitely misses the old house. She noted the current home she’s in with the kids offers plenty of space with a pool and a yard, which is nice. “It definitely has the space that I think we need. The yard is the most beneficial, we like for the kids to play outside — we don’t like our kids being on iPads and that kind of stuff,” she told the publication. However, she added that she really misses her “big, big kitchen” from the old house. “It’s a give and take on lots of different things … there are things about my home that are getting repaired that I miss so much.”
Adam says he barely recognizes the old house
While we know the old Busby house is still being repaired, it seems Adam and Danielle were shocked by the state of it when they visited recently. In this clip, Adam, Danielle, and Blayke explore the property they once called home when Adam says, “Our house right now is just completely unrecognizable. Everything is wrapped in plastic and taped up and they had to rip out the carpet and the baseboards.” Danielle also mentioned that there are portions of the house they’re treating that she didn’t even know were affected by the mold.
To make matters worse, Adam and Danielle mentioned they were more shocked to see the little progress that was seemingly made. “I really thought that it’d be further along by now,” Adam said.
It seems the Busbys are still living in the rental home even now, as Danielle recently posted a photo of two of the quints playing near the pool. We’ll have to wait and see if Danielle and Adam get their original house back next season.
