‘OutDaughtered’: Adam Busby Says the Quints Are Still Terrified of the Easter Bunny
Some kids are scared of Santa Claus. But for the Busby quints, it’s the Easter Bunny that strikes terror in their hearts. The stars of TLC’s OutDaughtered, aren’t fans of the big rabbit who comes bearing candy, as viewers learned in a past episode. But perhaps they’ve mellowed a bit as they’ve gotten older?
Not so, says dad Adam Busby. He revealed in an April 12 Instagram post that he took over Easter Bunny duties this year, and it didn’t exactly go over well.
Adam Busby played the Easter Bunny this year
When the Easter Bunny visited the Busby home several years ago, the result was tears, not joy. When he made his appearance in the backyard, Olivia, then 2, started “screaming bloody murder,” mom Danielle recalled.
“We probably should have went about it a little bit differently, because it terrified the kids,” Adam admitted at the time.
But the Busbys were also clearly a little amused that their daughters were so scared of the Easter Bunny. “It was hilarious,” Danielle said.
This year, the coronavirus pandemic meant that Adam had to step into the furry suit, taking over for a relative who usually does the honors. He played the role with relish. But the quints — who recently celebrated their fifth birthday — are still not fans, apparently.
Adam says his costume caused ‘terror’
Adam shared a photo of himself in the Easter Bunny costume on Instagram.
“Pandemic or no pandemic… you just have to keep some traditions alive!” he wrote.
In a follow-up comment, he called his kids’ reaction to the Easter Bunny’s appearance “priceless.” It was made even more memorable by the fact that they were completely unprepared for him to show up.
When a fan asked if the girls had a better response this year, he revealed that it was actually “way worse.”
“They weren’t expecting it this time around,” he replied. “He just appeared, then the terror ensued!”
Will we see Adam as the Easter Bunny on ‘OutDaughtered’?
Several fans asked Adam if he’s captured the Easter Bunny moment on video and wanted to know if the clip might air on the family’s reality TV show. We don’t know the answer to that, but in another post he did explain that the family is continuing to work on OutDaughtered. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has “put a wrench in things,” he wrote.
In an earlier social media post, he said that filming for the series was currently on hold, but that they were looking forward to creating more episodes.
“This COVID-19 pandemic has set us back with being able to make any new episodes,” he explained on the April 2 Instagram update. “Hopefully this is over soon and everyone can get back to normal life and we can get back to making new episodes for you guys,” he added.”
