‘OutDaughtered’: Danielle Busby Says Her Home Is Still Infested With Mold
TLC represents many unique families with their programming, but fans have really fallen in love with the Busbys on OutDaughtered. Adam and Danielle Busby are the parents of their 8-year-old daughter, Blayke, and the only set of all-female quintuplets in the United States. Knowing their back story and their difficulties through infertility, it makes their situation even more amazing, too. And fans adore how hard they work together to ensure all of their kids are happy, healthy, and thriving.
Raising six little girls is hard enough, but we know Adam and Danielle have experienced a significant number of setbacks in recent times. Most notably, they dealt with a mold issue in their home. And according to Danielle, the issue still isn’t solved.
Danielle and Adam discovered mold in their home that was making their kids sick
On this season of OutDaughtered, we saw one of the quintuplets, Ava, get sick with a wheezing cough. And it was soon discovered afterward that the Busby household was infested with mold. People reports Adam and Danielle brought a mold inspector into their home, and the highest levels were discovered in one of the quints’ bedrooms and in the kids’ playroom. As Danielle said on the show, “The whole upstairs seems to be covered with mold and it’s really bad in Ava and Olivia’s room, so my stomach is turning over because the numbers are like, astronomical.”
The Busbys had to take immediate action to prevent others from getting sick, too. According to the inspector, pillows and mattresses in the home needed to be trashed, and to salvage their home, they’d need a mold remediation contractor to clean everything.
The Busbys moved to a temporary home, though fans think they bought it
After a short stint at Danielle’s sister’s home and a quick search for a new home, Danielle and Adam ended up finding a place they could temporarily move into. Even with the help of Danielle’s mother who’s in the housing business, it was tough to find a place suitable for so many young kids, however. Thankfully, Danielle and Adam settled on a place that had three bedrooms and a pool. “It’s only six months and I don’t think we have the option to be picky right now,” Danielle mentioned in this clip.
While the new home was supposed to be temporary, fans are now wondering if the Busbys permanently moved into that house. Danielle recently posted a photo to Instagram of two of the quints swimming, and since the rental home has a pool, fans questioned why they’re still there. “Are you all staying in that rental longer then 6 months? [sic]” one fan questioned. Another added, “I’m betting that they bought it!”
Danielle recently said their original home is still mold-infested
While fans speculated that the Busbys moved out of the old home for good, Danielle told Good Housekeeping the real story. “We’re still living the life of the molded home and still in transition of whatever that means, and we still have not settled on what’s happening with our old home and where we’re living now,” she said. It seems she’s settling nicely into the temporary home, however. Danielle told Good Housekeeping that she loves the space, the yard, and the pool, as it keeps her kids occupied and off of the iPads.
That doesn’t mean she doesn’t miss the old house, however. “I miss my big, big kitchen. It’s a give and take on lots of different things … there are things about my home that are getting repaired that I miss so much.”
It sounds like moving back into their old home may still be a possibility, though perhaps it won’t happen anytime soon. We’ll have to wait for more updates from the Busbys when they’re available.
