‘OutDaughtered’: Danielle Busby Wrote That She Doesn’t Necessarily Want a ‘Public Life’

The Busbys have been fan favorites since OutDaughtered first premiered on TLC. And viewers have adored watching all six of Adam and Danielle’s kids grow up over the years. While we were first introduced to the Busby quintuplets — the only all-female quintuplets in the United States — when they were just babies, they’re now 4 years old (and Blayke Busby is now 8). Fans certainly can’t imagine what life is like for Adam and Danielle raising all these kids — and we certainly don’t know what it’s like being on reality TV for all to see, either.

It’s clear Adam and Danielle Busby aren’t your average reality TV parents. And Danielle recently wrote about how she never really dreamed of having her life or the life of her family on display, too. Here’s what she said.

Danielle Busby previously wrote about the difficulties of reality TV

From the best moments to the tough times, Adam and Danielle have cameras following them around all the time in hopes of crafting a compelling narrative for OutDaughtered. And while they certainly get a lot of love from fans, it’s not easy being on television. On Danielle’s blog, It’s a Buzz World, she wrote about the difficulties of reality TV back in April 2019.

“It is not easy to be a mom of six girls…and it’s not easy to actually capture and film your life on the regular,” she wrote. And Danielle then added that she believed God wants her to show the world what life is like raising six daughters. “When we were faced with two big life decisions…we prayed about direction and the Lord showed us a path so we said yes! Yes we said yes to keeping the 5 babies when we found out we where having five, and yes we said yes to a life of cameras around,” she continued. “We believe this is God’s path for us. He is the creator of this extraordinary story we have and life and we are called to share our story, so this is what we will do.”

She’s also been harshly critiqued by OutDaughtered fans

Fans — especially fellow parents of young kids — adore Adam and Danielle and believe they’re doing an incredible job in raising their little ones. But that doesn’t mean the couple’s immune to criticism. While Danielle may believe God has big plans for her family, she also knows that the public may not always like how she’s presented on TV. And she’s had to deal with some serious mom-shaming and backlash.

Recently on the show, we saw Adam and Danielle leave their home due to mold. And before they found their new place, they stayed in Danielle’s sister’s house with all six of their kids, which many fans thought was a “selfish” move. Not only that, but Danielle was also criticized for getting upset with Adam over a potential new job opportunity for him. As one follower commented on this Instagram photo, “Danielle has plenty of help Adam is trying to provide for his family! Adam is always accommodating Danielle with whatever house she wants & what ever she wants ect… ridiculous [sic].”

Danielle recently wrote about life in the public eye once again

As noted before, Danielle has touched on what life’s like with a reality TV show before, but she recently wrote another blog post about life in the public eye. And this time, she noted the life she’s currently living isn’t necessarily the life she’s always wanted.

“Even though it has been years of this type of life, I still can’t get used to it. … There are so many people who think the life of a reality show is just ridiculous and full of exploiting your family….and …. well frankly, that’s partially true!!” she wrote. “I don’t necessarily care to have this public life, but you know what??? I do it anyway because we all have a purpose and even though mine is being lived out in a different way compared to yours, it doesn’t make it any more special than your story.”

Danielle also explained again that she believes her reality TV-life is all part of God’s plan. “So we share… and we do share publicly, but that is because we feel God called us to do so. … I can confidently say I am covered with the armor of God and can take on any battle that comes my way.”

The new season of OutDaughtered premieres this fall, so catch Danielle, Adam, and their six kids then!
