‘Outlander’ Season 5: The 1 Thing Caitriona Balfe Finds ‘Unfortunate’ About the New Season
Outlander fans can’t wait for the premiere of season 5 next year. Luckily, the stars of the hit series have been quick to share details about what’s to come. Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser on the Starz show, recently revealed one “unfortunate” thing regarding the upcoming season.
The cast of ‘Outlander’ opens up
Season 4 featured much more Native American culture and storyline than will be involved with season 5 apparently. At New York Comic-Con, the stars spoke to SYFY Wire about the new season and made some comparisons with the last one.
“I think in general, episode 13 because of all of the Native American, I think that was such a cool element to our show,” Balfe revealed. “It was so beautiful to be able to tell that time in American history.”
What Caitriona Balfe thinks is ‘unfortunate’ about the new season
“It’s unfortunate we don’t have as many elements of that this season, I think it was so rich and so beautiful, and it just added another element to the show that we didn’t have before. So that’s special for that reason,” Balfe continued.
Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, agreed with his co-star about the sentiment. “Yeah the Native American side of it for me as well is just so fun to play and we have this fantastic cast that came over from Canada and really brought their own culture and their own life to it,” Heughan said.
Sam Heughan also said the family will be ‘torn apart’ in season 5
Heughan made another comment that has fans really worried. He said, “This season is, as you said, it’s about family,” Heughan said. “And I think that this season is very much about the family being stronger together and being torn apart by all these different factors.”
Could this mean that some of the main characters will be traveling back through time in the stones? Fans will have to wait to find out, but it sounds like the next season will be about choices the characters will face.
When does ‘Outlander’ season 5 premiere?
Droughtlander doesn’t seem so long now that we have a premiere date for season 5. Get ready to travel back in time on Feb. 16, 2020. The date seems to be properly timed to be two days after Valentine’s Day. A new trailer has also been released, along with a number of new photos of the upcoming season.
It sounds like Claire is full of guilt. She seems to think it’s her fault entirely that everyone is where they are. “It’s my fault that you’re all here, fighting the dangers of the Carolina wilderness,” Claire says in the trailer. The American Revolutionary War is on the horizon and danger is everywhere.
Jamie seems to think it may be better for his wife in the future. “When this war you’ve told me about eventually comes, it would be safer in your time,” Jamie says to Claire.
It sounds like from what we’ve seen in the trailer that the Fraser clan will be torn about what to do. Should those that can travel through the stones leave for safety? Will Brianna’s (Sophie Skelton) child even be able to get through the stones? Would Claire really leave Jamie again after so much time apart? Fans will hopefully get answers soon when Outlander season 5 premieres in a few months.
