‘Outlander’ Star Sam Heughan Just Invited His Fans to Join Him on a Beach Somewhere

Outlander fans just voted Sam Heughan as the Sexiest Celebrity of 2019— and the Outlander star has a great idea on how to pay everyone back. Taking to Twitter, Heughan told his followers that, in exchange for their amazing support, he would like to take everyone on a trip to a “beach somewhere.” With Outlander still a few months from returning to Starz, we are pretty confident the majority of voters would take Heughan up on his offer.

Sam Heughan thanks fans on Twitter

Last week, Just Jared conducted a poll that allowed fans to vote for the Sexiest Celebrity of 2019. Heughan was up against some stiff competition with the likes of Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jared Leto, and Sebastian Stan — yet he still won in a landslide.

Out of over 200,000 votes, the Outlander star received more than 30 percent of the votes, enough to earn him first place. Padalecki came in second, while Leto and Stan were voted third and fourth place, respectively.

After learning about his win, Heughan took to Twitter to thank everyone who voted for him and made an amazing offer to his loyal followers.

Fans naturally loved the idea, with a few joking that their bags are already packed and ready to go. Although sitting on a beach with Heughan will probably never happen, it is still a nice dream to have.

Heughan dishes on his ‘Outlander’ future

After starring in Outlander for the past four years, Heughan has started to build quite the resume outside of the hit show. With Heughan’s star rising in Hollywood, some fans have begun to wonder about his future on Starz.

Ahead of the release of his new movie, Bloodshot, Heughan was asked about his future on Outlander and how long he thinks he will remain with the series.

In previous interviews, Heughan has been very clear that he wants to stick with the show until it ends. But he now revealed that he is waiting to see what happens before he makes any definitive moves.

The comments have led to some speculation that Heughan is thinking about leaving Outlander for the movie industry. Fortunately, that does not appear to be the case as Heughan is more than happy to be part of a unique project like Outlander.

How long will ‘Outlander’ last?

Speaking of the future of the series, Starz is already moving forward with plans for a sixth season of Outlander. Production on the show’s fifth season is still underway in Scotland, and with eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s series, there is still plenty of material to adapt.

In fact, Heughan revealed that he is excited to start working on the sixth season once they wrap things up this year. He is also grateful to be a part of something as popular as Outlander, which is a good sign that he will be sticking around.

“We’re on season five just now and will definitely be doing a sixth,” Heughan shared. “I just feel really honoured to be a part of this show which just keeps going and going, which I’ve been in for six years and has gone right around the world.”

Sam Heughan added that he is happy to become a representative of Scotland over the years and is always looking forward to spreading that culture to other parts of the world.

That does not mean Heughan will stay on the series until it ends, but he will definitely be around for at least two more seasons.

Caitriona Balfe opens up about season 5

With Heughan not expected to go anywhere, his Outlander co-star, Caitriona Balfe, recently opened up about her work in season 5.

The actress revealed that, with filming underway, there is not much time in her schedule to work on other projects. This is one reason why Balfe was forced to miss out on the premiere of Ford v Ferrari, in which she plays the part of Mollie Miles.

“When we’re in production, we’re in production. We can’t do other things,” Balfe explained. “Occasionally, we can get out for a day or two to do press for the movie or whatever. Production has been really great in allowing both Sam and I to do those things.”

Balfe added that the new season of Outlander will not feature as many scenes with her character, though she is still heavily involved in the production process. Even with the reduced workload, Balfe has had a difficult time finding room in her schedule for other work.

Fans can watch Heughan and Balfe return to the small screens when season 5 of Outlander premieres on February 16.
