‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe Share More Behind-the-Scenes Photos of Season 5
We are still a few months away from the highly anticipated premiere of season 5 of Outlander, and Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are giving us a little relief from what has been a long Droughtlander. The Outlander stars recently took to social media and shared some more behind-the-scenes photos of the upcoming season. This includes shots of Jamie (Heughan) and Claire (Balfe) enjoying some intimate moments together.
Sam Heughan shares ‘Outlander’ set photos
This week, Heughan shared a photo of Jamie and Claire spending time with their daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton). All three characters are smiling in the shot and appear to be having a great time together.
It also looks like they are on the front porch of their home on Fraser’s Ridge, a setting that will be an important backdrop in the coming season.
According to Carter Matt, the image comes as production for season 5 of Outlander nears completion. The cast and crew of the hit fantasy drama have been working hard these past six months filming in Scotland.
But before they wrap things up, Heughan and Balfe are set to appear at New York Comic-Con this weekend, along with other members of the cast and crew. While the Outlander stars are mingling with fans, Skelton and her on-screen romance, Richard Rankin, will be filming more scenes.
With the series not returning to Starz until next year, we can only hope that Heughan keeps sharing behind-the-scene photos to help alleviate the wait.
‘Outlander’ posts more behind-the-scene photos
Apart from Heughan, the Outlander’s official Twitter account has also been sharing photos from the set of the new season. This includes a shot of Heughan and Skelton enjoying a happy moment together.
The photo was taken in between scenes and shows the actors laughing at each other while they wait for things to reset. There is also an extra in the background of the image talking on his cell phone.
The snapshot doesn’t tell us much about the new season, other than Jamie and Brianna will be sharing more screen time — which we are definitely excited about.
The photo also comes after executive producer Matthew B. Roberts shared some hilarious quotes from the set. In his latest installment of “heard on set,” Roberts shared a quote that pretty much sums up what it’s like filming Outlander.
“Can we make the dirt dirtier please,” Roberts shared.
Outlander has gained a reputation for filming in harsh weather conditions in Scotland, so it isn’t surprising to hear that they want to get a little dirtier.
Caitriona Balfe opens up about ‘Outlander’s’ new season
Behind-the-scenes photos aside, Balfe recently opened up about what it’s been like filming the new season of Outlander. In an interview with ET Online, Balfe revealed that the show’s newest adorable character, Adso the kitten, has been distracting everyone on set.
“I mean he’s awesome!” Balfe shared. “It does create a lot of distractions because we all just want to play with the cat instead of doing any work.”
Outlander announced the kitten casting this past May by sharing a photo of the cute cat resting on Heughan’s shoulders.
In Diana Gabaldon’s book, The Fiery Cross, Jamie gave Claire a kitten as a gift. He ran across the cat on his way back to Fraser’s Ridge, and we have to say that Aldo is the perfect addition to the new season.
Balfe also assured fans that they will absolutely love the upcoming season, which she says is “really good.” Without giving too much away, the actress revealed that fans will watch Jamie and Claire continue to settle in Fraser’s Ridge.
She also explained how family is a major theme this season, which explains all of the recent set photos. While Jamie and Claire will enjoy some great moments together, they will also face some hurdles along the way.
The couple has found themselves in America on the eve of the American Revolution. This season, Jamie and Claire will be navigating through tricky political waters as they do their best to keep Fraser’s Ridge out of the coming conflict.
