‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Tackle Fan’s Questions For Season 5
Fans observed World Outlander Day over the weekend – an event celebrating the release of the first book in Diana Gabaldon’s popular series – and the cast of Outlander joined the fun with a special video on social media. Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, Cesar Domboy, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, and Lauren Lyle all sat down to answer some important questions from fans about Season 5 of Outlander.
Jamie and Claire face more obstacles in Season 5 of ‘Outlander’
The cast of Outlander did not reveal a lot about the upcoming season, though Heughan and Balfe did open up about Jamie and Claire’s struggles establishing themselves in the New World. Most of the couple’s problems next season will be related to the America Revolution, a conflict they are desperately trying to avoid. Although the war has not started, Jamie and Claire will find it necessary to join a side before too long.
Apart from Jamie and Claire, Domboy and Lyle opened up about how their characters, Fergus and Marsali, will be frequently hanging out at Fraser’s Ridge this season.
According to Carter Matt, the homestead will play a central role in Season 5 as Jamie and Claire expand their family. This, of course, also means that the two will need to add a few additions to their home, which will be another exciting element in the new season.
Turner reveals who would make it in 18th Century America
Jamie and Claire made it to America last season and it was rough watching them adjust to their new life across the pond. With the couple facing even more challenges in Season 5, Skelton was asked which cast members she thinks could actually make it in 18th Century America, if time travel was a real thing of course.
For starters, the Outlander actress said that Rankin and Heughan would probably have the hardest time adjusting to life without technology. Skelton hilariously revealed that Rankin cannot live without his computer and Heughan would be completely lost without access to social media.
As far as female members of the cast are concerned, Skelton believes she and Balfe would do just fine living in a different century. Not only would they have plenty of things to chat about, but their affinity for whiskey would also help them get through even the harshest of times.
Rankin could not have agreed more with Skelton’s assessment and admitted that he would not be able to cope without technology. Given how much Heughan is on social media, he would probably agree as well.
‘Outlander’ Season 4 bloopers
Outlander is promoting the release of Season 4 on Blu-ray and DVD, which means it is time to enjoy some classic bloopers from the cast. Ahead of the release, Outlander gifted fans with a short clip of Heughan flubbing a few of his lines. The actor attempts to solve his problems by throwing in some choice words, which only makes Balfe giggle even harder.
The DVD release of Season 4 features four new scenes as well as a full blooper reel. Some of the extras include a deeper look at Lord John Grey and his attempt to raise William.
Fans can also watch scenes of Murtagh and Marsali confronting some landlords, Aunt Jocasta instructing Lizzie and Phaedre on the merits of teamwork, and Young Ian’s first encounter with his pet dog, Rollo.
Looking ahead to Season 5 of ‘Outlander’
The cast and crew of Outlander are currently hard at work filming Season 5 in Scotland. Starz has not announced when the new season will premiere, but it is expected to air later this year or early next year at the latest. Although they have kept details to a minimum, several members of the cast have been regularly sharing photos from the set on social media, offering a behind-the-scenes look at what is ahead.
The new season of Outlander is based on the fifth book in Gabaldon’s hit series, titled The Fiery Cross. The author is currently preparing to release the ninth book in the series, titled Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, excerpts of which are featured in the DVD release of Season 4.
