Whether it’s due to no filter, said just to get a rise out of people, or simply not caring, the 45th President of the United States has made some shocking statements prior to and during his time in office. But it’s not just Donald Trump; his wife, Melania Trump, has also said her fair share of pretty surprising things as well.
Here are some of the most outrageous things the first couple has ever said about one another, including eyebrow-raising tidbits about their marriage and even their sex life.
1. Trump said he’d honor his vows as long as Melania’s breasts were always intact
Long before he was elected president, the New York businessman was a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show. And, like many high-profile people who go on that program often do, gave us plenty of material we just didn’t hear anywhere else.
Like this exchange between the two in 2005, when Stern asked his guest if he would stay with Melania if she got into a terrible accident and became disfigured. “Totally, no question in my mind,” Trump said, before immediately following up with: “How do the breasts look?”
“The breasts are okay,” Stern responded. To which Trump replied, “Okay, well, that’s important.”
Next: He also said she was great in bed.
2. He bragged about how good Melania was in the bedroom
Trump stunned another time on Stern’s radio show when he was asked how his then-fiancée, Melania, won his heart and how she was in bed.
“Well, she is terrific in bed,” Trump gleefully replied. “She wouldn’t want me to say that but she is … Overall terrific.”
Next: Even Melania shared details about their sex life.
3. Melania said they had sex multiple times a day
People may be surprised to know that Melania wasn’t shy about discussing their sex life either when the couple called into Stern’s show in 1999.
The pair were dating at the time, and Melania told the host that they have sometimes had sex more than once a day.
Next: People wondered if this comment was really a joke.
4. POTUS said his wife was next to leave the White House
In March 2018, during the annual Gridiron Club Dinner, Trump made a remark about his wife while poking fun of the high turnover rate in his administration.
“So many people have been leaving the White House. It’s actually been really exciting and invigorating ’cause you want new thought. So, I like turnover. I like chaos. It really is good,” he said. “Now the question everyone keeps asking is, ‘Who is going to be the next to leave? Steve Miller or Melania?'”
While the comment was meant to be a joke, it did raise a few eyebrows — especially since at the time, the Trump marriage was said to be on the rocks following reports of affairs, most notably with porn star Stormy Daniels.
Next: Melania thought she and her husband were equal.
5. Melania said they were equal, but …
During a 2005 interview with Larry King, Melania explained that she and her husband have an equal partnership.
“We are very equal in the relationship and that’s very important. You know to marry a man like Donald, you know you need to know who you are. And you need to be very strong and smart. He needs to know he can rely on me sometimes, you know? And we share a lot of stuff together,” she said.
Next: The Trumps weren’t on the same page, though, about being equal.
6. Trump said something completely different than his wife
Trump, however, didn’t exactly see things that way and had a different take on their relationship.
“The way I look at it, there’s nothing like a good marriage. And there’s nothing like having children. If you have the money, having children is great,” he said. “Now I know Melania … I’m not gonna to be doing the diapers, I’m not gonna be making the food, I may never even see the kids. She’ll be an unbelievable mother. I’ll be a good father.”
Next: Not putting work into their marriage
7. He said he doesn’t want to put any work into their relationship
While many people may say it takes hard work to have a successful marriage, Trump is not one of those people. In fact, he said the opposite when he told King that he doesn’t want to put any work into his relationship with Melania.
“I don’t want to have to go home and have to work at a relationship. A relationship you have to work at, in my opinion doesn’t work,” Trump said.

8. Trump admitted to groping Melania in public
During another conversation with Stern, Trump was asked by the host if he ever groped his wife in public to which Trump nonchalantly replied, “Yes.” The now-president then went into detail about what happened the first night they tried to be intimate with each other.
“I didn’t do well with her the first time,” Trump confessed. “It was not working. The whole thing was not working the first night.”
Next: Melania placed blame on someone other than her husband.
9. Melania said her husband was ‘egged-on’ in the Access Hollywood tape
Melania defended her husband after the infamous Access Hollywood tape surfaced in 2016. She sat down with CNN’s Anderson Cooper to discuss the hot-mic tape but said that Trump only made those comments because he was “egged on” by Billy Bush.
“And he was led on — like egged on, from the host [Bush] to say dirty and bad stuff,” she said.
Next: Actually, she blamed everyone except Trump.
10. She then blamed the media for his crude comments
Mrs. Trump definitely learned a thing or two from her hubby about blaming the media for everything, and she decided to call them out as well for somehow responsible for what the president said on that 2005 tape.
“It was the media. It was NBC. It was Access Hollywood,” she said. “It was left wing and left-wing media. You could see that. Everything was organized. Every Friday something comes out.”
Next: Trump figured Melania’s beauty might qualify her to be first lady.
11. Trump brought up her looks as an answer to what kind of first lady she’d be
In 2015, the Trumps interviewed with People and then-presidential candidate Trump spoke about what his wife would be like as first lady. He started his answer off strong, but then brought her looks up as if that were a qualification.
“I could see her being very involved in women’s health issues,” he said, before adding, “She’s very calm and confident, very warm, and very beautiful.”
Next: The first lady said they do not share this room.
12. Melania admitted that they do have separate rooms
Bathrooms, that is. In Michael Wolff’s book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, it was alleged that the first couple don’t sleep in the same bedroom.
While a rep for Melania denied that they have separate bedrooms, the FLOTUS told GQ that she and the POTUS do not share the same bathroom, and that’s the key to a successful marriage.
Next: Trump said the difference between him and his opponents were prettier women.
13. The president said that his women were ‘more beautiful’ than the other candidates’ women
It was during his colorful interview with Piers Morgan that Trump dropped this gem about what he had that the people who ran against him didn’t have.
“I think the only difference between me and the other candidates is that I’m more honest and my women are more beautiful,” he told the Good Morning Britain host.
Next: Melania isn’t worried that her marriage won’t last.
14. Mrs. Trump said she never worried about her husband’s past failed marriages
His marriage to Melania is Trump’s third, as his other two ended in divorce, but Melania isn’t worried at all that theirs will end the same way.
“We know what kind of relationship we have. I don’t think I should be scared of anything,” Melania said during their interview with King back in 20o5.
Next: Melania said she doesn’t want to be with Trump all the time.
15. Melania also said that she doesn’t want him to ‘come home’ to her
Melania said that she likes her husband to have his own space.
“I don’t want to say come home and be with me. I don’t want to change him. I want to give him space and I think that’s very important in the relationship,” she said.
