Peaky Blinders Season 6 is coming soon, and fans can’t wait for their questions from Peaky Blinders Season 5 to be answered. At the end of season 5, Thomas Shelby failed to assassinate Oswald Mosley, letting his enemy go free. This threw Tommy into a mental tailspin, and the season ended with him pointing a gun to his head. More recently, the director of the new season posted about what’s to come, and he described season 6 as “gothic.”

‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6 director Anthony Byrne said the new season starts exactly where season 5 ended

Peaky Blinders Season 6 is the final season of the series, which means viewers can anticipate a number of storyline wrapping up. In season 5, Thomas Shelby’s plan to assassinate Oswald Mosley seemed like it would happen without a hitch. But someone sabotaged Tommy, ruining the plan. This means we’ll continue to see Mosley in the new season — and Tommy will also find out who betrayed him and ruined the plan.

According to director Anthony Byrne, season 6 begins exactly where season 5 left off. “Yeah, it picks up directly [from season 5],” Byrne told Digital Spy. “The very first image you will see will be back in that field, with Tommy with a gun to his head, and then we will move on from there and resolve that amazing moment.”

In terms of who betrayed Tommy, Byrne noted fans “certainly find out” who was behind the trickery.

Anthony Byrne called the new season ‘gothic’ in a new Instagram post

Thomas Shelby deals with PTSD throughout the series, and at the end of season 5, viewers see his mental illness manifest even more with Grace Shelby’s ghost. It seems Peaky Blinders Season 6 might also take on a darker tone. With so much going wrong for Tommy, he might not make it out alive — and it could spell doom for Shelby Company Limited.

Director Anthony Byrne posted a photo of Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby to Instagram on Dec. 20, 2021. The photo shows Tommy in the shadows, alone and serious. “If there’s an image that really sums up this final season, it is this,” the director captioned the post. “Tommy Shelby. Light and Dark. A man on the edge of the abyss staring into the void. A word myself and Cillian used a lot during filming was ‘Gothic,’ and this season is very much that.”

Byrne also teased the release of the trailer. “A full trailer will be with you very soon,” he posted. “I can’t wait to share it with you all.”
