Starz’s The White Queen is an adaptation of Philippa Gregory’s novels. It follows Elizabeth Woodville (Rebecca Ferguson) in 15th century England during the tumultuous time of The War of the Roses. England is in tatters because of the great cousin’s war. Elizabeth marries Edward IV (Max Irons) and is thrust to the forefront of history for her beauty and tenacity. Her family will undertake a lot to secure England from the Lancastrians. Her family will see war and ruin before it is all said and done. She will even sacrifice her daughter for power.

‘The White Princess’

The second installment after The White Queen is The White Princess. This story follows Elizabeth Woodville’s daughter, Elizabeth or Lizzie (Jodie Comer). She is forced against her will to marry Henry VII (Jacob Collins-Levy), a Lancastrian. Henry Tudor conquers Elizabeth’s uncle, Richard III and takes the crown for himself. To secure England, he marries Lizzie, uniting the houses of Lancaster and York and ending The War of the Roses forever. Fortunately for Lizzie, she does grow to love Henry, but it takes time for her to warm to him. They create a family together and carve a place in the history books for the name of Tudor.

‘The Spanish Princess’

The third installment after The White Princess, The Spanish Princess follows the life of the next Queen of England, Catherine of Aragon. After Henry VII has spent many years on the throne, he secures an alliance with Spain, which of course means a marriage pact. He marries his son and heir, Prince Arthur (Angus Imrie), to Catherine (Charlotte Hope).

The couple is only together less than a year before tragedy strikes and Arthur passes away in a tragic circumstance. Catherine must fight for her destiny to rule England and take her husband’s brother as her new husband, securing the throne for herself. The story will continue with a second installment, which is still in the works.
