Piers Morgan Has New Mean Nickname For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Piers Morgan knows how to get attention from the public. He’s learned that whenever he criticizes Meghan Markle or her husband, Prince Harry, that people will pay attention. Some will agree with him, and others will become angry with Morgan. However, in public life, any attention is good attention. Morgan has once again made headlines by giving the royal couple an interesting nickname. But is it justified? Let’s take a look at the details.
Piers Morgan’s new nickname for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
The royal couple is once again the subject of criticism after taking four private jet rides in the span of a week. First, they took a trip to Ibiza for Markle’s 38th birthday. After returning to the United Kingdom, they took another vacation just days later to Nice, France. Critics pointed out the duke and duchess’ recent comments about climate change, calling them hypocrites for not watching their own carbon emissions while lecturing the rest of us.
Morgan joined the conversation on Twitter by posting a photo of himself flying coach. He captioned the photo: “Memo to ‘eco-warriors’ Meghan & Harry: this is what Economy to Nice looks like. Try it sometime.”
The nickname “eco-warrior” is mostly due to comments the royal couple has made in the last few months about climate change. On their Instagram account, @sussexroyal, they wrote, “With nearly 7.7 billion people inhabiting this Earth, every choice, every footprint, every action makes a difference.”
In the September Vogue issue, edited by Markle, Prince Harry had an interview with famous primatologist Jane Goodall, where he mentioned they were only planning to have two children “maximum,” so they can do their part for overpopulation. And then for the same issue, Markle chose controversial climate change activist, Greta Thornberg as one of her “15 Forces For Change.”
These comments by Prince Harry and Markle seem hypocritical to their critics, considering their lifestyle.
Meghan Markle has many unkind nicknames
This is not the first time Markle has been called by unsavory nicknames. In the past, it’s been reported that palace staff had used the name “Me-Gain” to refer to Markle’s demanding behavior. Staff also came up with the names “Duchess Difficult” and “Hurricane Meghan” for the same reason.
But perhaps the worst nickname of them all was “Degree Wife” reportedly given to Markle by an unknown member of the royal family because they thought her marriage wouldn’t last past three years.
Although she’s often given difficult names, Markle seems to be taking the criticism in stride. According to reports from palace insiders, she doesn’t pay much attention to media reports about her.
Is Piers Morgan’s nickname for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry justified?
Morgan’s latest nickname for Markle and Prince Harry only highlights the problems that are created when royals branch too far into politics. There are many good reasons that the royal family generally keep any political opinions to themselves. The public doesn’t react well to this kind of interference by royals.
In reality, it’s perfectly understandable for a member of the royal family to take a private jet instead of flying commercial. Most of the public probably understands this, and the issue isn’t really that they flew privately. The issue became a problem when they tried to lecture the public on how to behave. At that point, their lives become subject to the same standards the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are applying to others.
Prince Harry and Markle are still learning how to navigate the difficult waters of royal life. The Duke of Sussex grew up in the public eye, but when he was a young bachelor, he was given leeway than he is now that he’s married and a bigger participant in public life. They will need to learn that the public doesn’t react well to being told what to do. Hopefully, this is a lesson they’ll take to heart, but only time will tell.
