‘Pose’ Season 2 Episode 7: The Elders Came Together To Support the Ballroom Kids
When Madonna’s “Vogue” was the most popular song on the radio, everyone was signing up for Damon’s (Ryan Jamaal Swain) vogue class to learn the moves. The ballroom scene became full of people who wanted to be “a part of the movement” until the song’s popularity died down.
Now, Damon’s vogue class doesn’t have enough people to remain open, and Ricky (Dyllon Burnside) is struggling with booking dancing gigs. Lulu (Hailie Sahar) is also down and feels she doesn’t have what it takes to keep everything together after Candy (Angelica Ross) passed away. Pray Tell (Billy Porter) and Blanca (M.J. Rodriguez) noticed the ballroom children’s low spirits and came up with a plan to help them see their light again.
However, they did not realize that Angel (Indya Moore) and Lil Papi (Angel Bismark Curiel) got themselves caught up in cocaine. What else happened in Pose Season 3 Episode 7? Keep reading to find out!
Elektra funded the condom protest in ‘Pose’ Season 2 Episode 7
To get everyone out of their slump, Pray Tell has a plan to work with Nurse Judy Kubrak (Sandra Bernhard) and the Act Up organization to stage a protest. Blanca’s landlord, the wealthy Frederica Norman (Patti LuPone), illegally closed her salon, so Blanca wants to protest at her house.
She also wants to raise awareness and promote condom use as an alternative to prevent HIV instead of abstinence as the churches teach. Therefore, Blanca gave the children a job to complete: find a large inflatable condom to cover Frederica’s house with.
Lulu asked Elektra (Dominique Jackson) for the money and told her the contribution would make people vote her the coveted Mother of the Year. This egocentric idea motivated the house mother, and she gave Lulu $1,000 of her $2,500 goal in cash.
Elektra then invited Lulu to participate in her dominatrix gig as Mistress Lucinda, allowing Lulu to earn the rest of the money. The ballroom kids pulled the protest off, with the news watching, and they appreciated their elders for lifting up their spirits.
Pray Tell emotionally supported Ricky
Ricky, depressed after not booking any touring gigs, has been spending his days at the House of Evangelista with Damon, drinking wine coolers and watching television all day. Things got worse for him after Chris, the guy he hooked up with on tour, told Ricky he had HIV.
Ricky then explained this privately to Pray Tell, who advised him to get tested again. He got tested before when he dated Damon and was always negative. However, this time, the dancer wasn’t so lucky. The tests revealed Ricky was HIV positive, and he left the office and cried on Pray Tell’s shoulder, telling the emcee he was going to die.
Angel and Lil Papi get caught up in drugs in ‘Pose’ Season 2 Episode 7
The model booked an essential and massive deal with BeBe and invited Lil Papi to a celebration party as their first official outing as a couple. Once they arrived, they were offered cocaine, which Papi was hesitant to try. He remembered how upset Blanca was after he got caught up in marijuana, but Angel said it was “medical” so it was good for them.
They both tried the drug and had a great night together dancing and partying. Later that night, the couple hooked up, and Angel and Lil Papi exchanged “I love you’s” for the first time. The next day, Damon walked in the couple’s room and noticed Angel held a vial of cocaine in her hand.
He confronted his house brother and sister about their drug use, and they made him promise not to tell Blanca. Even though the two promised they would not do “blow” again, Angel was two hours late to her BeBe shoot, and she and Lil Papi looked terrible.
Ms. Ford (Trudie Styler) tried to have a talk with Angel, who only wanted to put her head down before the model realized she would be shooting with the photographer who Lil Papi and Blanca beat up after he shot her naked.
